I'm worried about my prediction now because doesn't MS always start with like a 15 minute gameplay? Used to be COD but they dont have that deal so I'm not sure...they have BF deal but isn't that on a every other year cadence?

Maybe they'll do the 15 minute gameplay THEN reveal Scorpio.

But screw it I already said first 5 minutes so might as well not be a chicken.

If you're betting with me Rangers, be formal!
It's why I split my bet up into 2.

Good point, but no way of knowing. I can see it going either way. Yeah I'm a chicken. LOL

I will wager my tail on the fact taht price will be revealed at the end. Most of the conference is going to be focused on Scorpio, but hopefully new games will be revealed too, so my hope is that they show Scorpio at the very very end to keep suspense and people hooked.

The poll options don't reflect my wager, so in writing, set out clearly as it was in the original thread.

They'll talk about Scorpio within the first 5 minutes. That seems a good way to put it.

This is the wager proposed by Rangers I'm betting on. And to be clear, this doesn't include references to anything ambiguous like 'the future of Xbox' or 'exciting announcements later in the conference'. They start talking specifically about Scorpio.

I'll wager $20 this doesn't happen I'll take that wager with upto 5 people. So if three people are willing to take this $20 wager and I lose, I pay $60, if one person takes it and I lose I pay $20 and if five people take it and lose I pay $100. If I win, I pay nothing those people who lose each pay $20. Simples.

I'll bet 10 donation to B3D. But i have to fully agree I "lost" if it comes to that...no gray areas. But dude...no way you're winning, are you crazy? You're just giving away money.

Fine, $20 then. That was the wager. If I'm giving away money [to Beyond3D] then you have nothing to lose, right? Because you're definitely going to win. It's amazing how less certain people get about predictions when a little more than a trivial amount of money is at stake. I'm the way take the risk here - this could cost me $100 if five people put $20 where there mouths are.

So. Step right up. I'll take the first five $20 wagers from established members, i.e. people invested in the forum enough to not renege on the deal.

I don't know about "talking" about Scorpio in the 5-15 minutes but I'd bet most of the initial gameplay shown will be at Scorpio level settings.

So anybody with an Xbox One who has no intention (or can't afford) to upgrade to Scorpio will not know how games shown will look on their console? That would be a brave move indeed. :yep2:

I guess going forward every promotional material will be Scorpio/pro

Back in the day i salivated with amiga screenshots in magazines and i had to settle with the spectrum version of the games lol

Given that PC games are commonly marketed in such fashion, I doubt MS would be skewered for such a strategy. I imagine Sony is not going to be above such practices. I don't think either is willing to spend the time to continuously discern the differences every time they market a new title. They will let sites like DF parse that out.

Guess again. Sony could have done this with Horizon Zero Dawn and more recently, Farpoint. They didn't.

But sure, Microsoft might. Screw losers who bought an Xbox One and can't afford a Scorpio. :yep2: You cheap fuckers can wait until the game is in review's hands before you see what your underpowered piece of crap can do visually.

Still no takers for the wager?

Wow..

I'll take the wager. It's a long weekend here for Victoria Day with the kids so give me a little bit to sit down and write out a formal.

I think the wager is pretty retarded to be honest. First 5 minutes don't necessarily mean anything as far as what the main focus of the show will be.

I don't think you know what retarded means but Ranger's wager is really just a bit of fun serving as a trigger to donate some money to Rys to cover some of the costs of the forum.

Wagering about Scorpio is fine. My point was that a 5 minute mark is not in any real way connected to MS focus on Scorpio as in how much or how important it is in their plans. It can basically be the only important thing they show even if they start talking about at 15 min mark or be just a small addition to their Xbox One lineup even if they open with it.

I understood your main point was about Microsoft not focusing on Scorpio too much or at least that would be a big mistake due to alienating existing user base. 5 minute mark wager doesn't solve that question.

@DSoup The Wager
1. Scorpio must be revealed within the first 5 minutes of the show or be the first reveal after the opening monologue.
Anything related to Scorpio that is opened with followed by a Scorpio reveal after the 5 minute mark is considered opening with Scorpio reveal.

Conditions in which iroboto wins the wager
1. Scorpio is revealed within 5 minutes of the presentation
2. The presentation begins with a Scorpio enhanced game that leads directly into Scorpio reveal
3. The presentation has a opening dialog/video that exceeds 5 minutes (nothing is yet presented) and Scorpio is revealed as the first item after the monologue/intro sequence.

I consider all of these being revealed within the 5 minute mark. This is a stipulation built in because I'm wagering for Scorpio to be revealed first and long monologues and talking heads, stupid music, XBOX history lessons exceeding 5 minutes can ruin that.

All other scenarios outside of the above @DSoup wins the wager.

The wager is: Loser donates $20 USD to B3D.
Reply if you agree with this.

I concur with that, that the '5 minute' mark should be 5 minutes of meat excluding any preamble. The first real item will either be sales/usage related, or talk of XBox One games or services, or Windows 10 talk including UWP, or a Scorpio reveal, or something new like a new handheld.
