I'd have to disagree. I mean, I still quite enjoyed it, but I didn't think that Eliza Dushku was very good. She was passable, but there were definitely some moments, particularly at the start of the episode, that I thought felt rather forced.I liked what I saw. The reviews I've read were mixed bordering negative, but I felt that, for a pilot, it was a job well done.
Also, I was plesantly surprised by Dushku. I had my doubts about her range as an actor, but she was great.

I do have high hopes for the rest of the series, though. Should be interesting.
I actually kind of liked that part. It was in the stuff before that that I thought there were parts that felt forced.Really didn't like her braindead dollface expression.
I do hope you're right. I have liked everything Joss Whedon has done so far, so I have rather high hopes for this series as well. It was certainly enjoyable and provocative enough for me to continue watching, even though I had some slight reservations about the acting in a couple of places. The depth of Joss Whedon's series doesn't generally reveal itself in the first episode. Hopefully whomever is responsible for the airtime it gets is wise enough to let it run at least two-three episodes first. I was hooked before that point, but I didn't realise the full extent of the brilliance of the first three episodes of Buffy either until they were done.
I actually was one of the first to discover the Buffy series over here thanks to coming across it on the BBC when the first season was aired, and it didn't get popular over here until years later.
I thought it was ok, but it was incredibly annoying to me how they saidoh we can make her near sighted (by screwing with brain) fine ok, then suddenly they gave her asthma too? And the whole balance issue, like she needed asthma to balance her being splendid... ugh
Who? Eliza Dushku? That chick is ugly as hell. Thus I think it'll be axed rather sooner than later.
I know these things are subjective, but, ugly as hell?
