Diablo 3 - Gamepad Edition

Got a legendary weapon too now ! Is pretty cool, also my Strafe ability is now a showstopper :p ! Using it much more now.

BTW< me and Billy tried for about half an hour yesterday to join each other's game but could not ! It just kept giving out an error :( ! Is anyone else also facing this issue? I can join random ppl's game easily via matchmaking and ppl join my game too sometimes, but I just could not join Billy's game. Neither could he join mine. What a shitty implementation of co op  !

Think of it as a challenge. :)
It sure would be!

I'd test out a new character and try to see what MP level on PC would equate to Hard on console, but I have no free character slots. :( Blizzard really needs to gives us more than 10 character slots. That's assuming that Easy, Medium, and Hard are console variants of MP levels, which they may not be.
I was wrong about the difficulty modes. Once you reach level 10 with a char, you unlock access to Master 1, 2,3 ,4 and 5 difficulties on PS3. So there's Easy, Medium, Hard, Master 1,2,3,4,5.

As long as you are only facing one enemy the knockback on Fist of Thunder (FOT)
Yeah, one on one, even against a small group, the monk is fine due to the stun effect. In a cramped space against fast enemies, the monk's just dogmeat. I doubt Captain Daltyn can be killed without dying many times, although I didn't get that far. According to the Wiki, the intended player level is level 3 in normal difficulty. It may be that Hard is actually hard and the game isn't balanced for that. I'm used to these games being stupidly easy on the whole and one has to contrive gameplay a bit to a get a challenge. So far for other classes than can fight at a distance and so retreat and fight carefully, D3 is proving very enjoyable.

When you get to hell difficulty and possibly even later in Nightmare, a shield can really help to make things easier until you get your DPS and life gain to a suitable level.
In the very beginnings of the game, equipment is out of one's control There's not enough money to buy equipment and one can't rely on the drops. If the character can't survive on the strength of their skills, long enough to get enabling gear, they're kinda jappered!

Note for playing local and online and 'exporting' characters. You can export your save game on PS3, but when you copy it onto another PS3, it overwrites that savegame copy and destroys all characters. We started D3 in local coop at a friends. Last night he emailed us a copy of our savegames, as we had joined the local game with our PSN identities which have accounts on that PS3. These savegames overwrote our local games and destroyed my solo WD. If you want to play online some days, local others, just make sure you copy across the latest save before starting, otherwise you could lose progress with solo characters.

That's quite true.

What you could do then is just do normal mode on the Monk until level 4 (Blinding Flash), level 6 (blinding flash + AE FOT), or level 8 (BF + AE FOT + healing skill). And then switch over to hard mode. You'll also have been able to get a bit of gear.

And it takes almost no time to get to level 4. And maybe 45 minutes to an hour at the most to get to level 8 on normal.

Alternatively you can farm the easier encounters to get to level 4, 6, or 8 in Hard mode before tackling the harder encounters.

I remember having to do that the first time I ran into Blood Raven in Diablo II. Except Blood Raven was much harder than Captain Daltyn and came at roughly the same point in the story.

Oh and I tested it. FOT with the AE rune does do an AE knockback on the 3rd hit. It's a relatively small AE centered on your primary target, however.

SB

My wife is totally into the game now. From telling me to turn off my ps3 and spend time with her to 'lets play some Diablo 3' :D ! I had tried every family frinedly game in the last 1.75 years of marriage to get my wife into gaming with no luck at all and now who would have thought that a Dungeon Crawler would do the trick ;) !! I used to think of Dungeon Crawlers as th emost un-user-friendly games due to all the inventory management !

Good job Blizzard  !

This isn't surprising to those of us who have followed the genre for the past decade+. the pinnacle was Champions of Norrath on PS2, with four player local coop, but Baldur's Gate Dark Alliance before that introduced a lot of significant others to coop gaming. There is loads of feedback from guys saying BGDA or CON were highly valued for bringing people they love into sharing gaming with them. The loot and levelling aspect, ubiquitous now across game genres but unique to RPGs back then, combined with the simplicity of gameplay and pretty universally accepted fantasy themes (chopping up goblins is far less offensive than shooting ordinary people) made the genre palatable to many non-typical gamers. CON had some surprising elements such as fashion as a draw, as the costume designs spanned a wide range of colour and styles.

The loss of Snowblind Studios to Warner Brothers seems to be in part to blame for no decent sequels, and the genre has suffered from B-grade games on the whole where developers/publisher don't trust the genre. I hope D3's success results in more developments in this space.

Finished it. Lvl 33 Wizard. Third and last act were quite easy mode. Wizard with destruction+blizzard seems to be unstoppable. Endbosses had no real chance either. Found couple more legendaries, but not that useful for my build.

So...either the wirch doctor, or next difficulty?!?

Tried witch doc. Lvl 5. feels alright, although I hate spiders!!!

Btw: which class is supposed to be the strongest? Wizard?

Always go next difficulty, that's the whole point. All the really good stuff only becomes available after lv60 in Inferno.

Besides, you'll still need the Staff of Herding. ;)

The way I see it Demon Hunter is totally unstoppable ! Belial was a one attempt fight and now, at level 29, I have a build where I can continuously keep 'Strafing 'while setting enemies on fire ! I just don't stop and never run out of hatred(resource) as I can convert my Discipline into hatred anytime and also gain hatred and Discipline when I pick up Health orbs ! At this point in Act 3 I can clear hordes upon hordes of enemies without even paying attention and in one go ! At one point I cleared three rooms in one go. Am trying to set a record of how many enemies I can kill in one go. :p

It makes a the game a bit too easy and boring , btw, as I don't have to really do anyhting at all. Hoping some enemy breaks this combo of mine.

BTW, what are those rewards that keep getting displayed on the bottom of the screen whenever a challenge is completed? Where can I see them or use them?

Ah ! But I wasn't a Dungeon Crawler myself unitl Torchlight 2 finally hooked me. The too much of menu management used to put off the young action gamer I was. And I joined the ps2 bandwagon pretty late to really enjoy all those games. I was a pC gamer all along before that as I had my study PC and no money of my own. As soon as I started earning, I got myself a ps2.Thankfully I had lpayed SOTC,MGS2&3,GOW 1&2 and RE4 before I got my ps3.

I hope more companies come out with Dungoen Crawlers after D3's success. gTAV coming out soon might not help this game, but I hope it sells in millions on the consoles.

I have unlocked all skills...are the missing Runes worth it? Do they change the game or is it only gear that improves your stats from this point on?

Btw, tried next difficulty on normal. Again, no challenge, up to lvl 34. Then I tried to increase monster difficulty to Master III...no chance :(

I had problems with Belial. But after this, it was easy mode with boss fights taking less than a minute.

Sad we can't coop now! Would love to kill some Master lvl monsters!

Runes change the skills quite a lot. Some of them change it completely. ALso, try finding combinations of skills to go super duper high damage. I have heard Wizards can be very very powerful.

Btw...do the dungeons change in the next difficulty lvl? It seems a bit this way to me?!?

The dungeons are randomnised everytime you play , on any difficulty.

I would have loved to see your wizard in action. Maybe we will try co op again someday. Damn you Blizzard why can't we co op  ?

Anyone else facing issues in joining friend's games? I can play with randomn ppl but not with Billy.

OK, Diablo is dead ! What a whimper of an end, the fight was piss easy  ! I was expecting a showdown which will need a ll my might and powers but it didn't even last for a minute ! WTH ! In fact all the boss fights were under a minute ! It was the monsters and dungeons which were fun !

Didn't like the end at all, no damn fun :devilish: ! And why does that damn Tyrael star in the final cut scene ?! He didn't even do anything, that lazy ass god of Justice ! I was expecting a cutscene for my Demon Hunter ! WTH Blizzard, you hve truckloads of mony and u can't even make end cutscenes for all the heroes !

Damn you and fix that co op error too !

I've played coop online twice without issue, which made a nice change from what I expect. No connection issues, no drop outs, and working voice chat! Have you got region restrictions on in the settings? By default the game restricts connections to the same region, so you'll be able to find random people in the same area but not be able to join up with people overseas.

As for Demon Hunters being OP, we played two-player, two DH's last night. Complete overkill! The machine-gun skill is definitely OP. Has turned the game into more of a twin-stick shooter like Undead Nation! ;)

We checked all the region settings even tried different settings but didn't work. Smeone on gaf was also having the same error. Hope they fix it soon. The game is pnly half the fun without co op.
