Deus Ex 3 (PC)

You want a great story and writing? Go watch a movie or read a book, this is a GAME, gameplay takes priority over everything else..

Fak yea.

They should go watch GitS2: Innocence (it's glorious to watch in HD), HR's pallete looks very much like it.

Its funny to talk about immersion being broken by minor things and yet not care about the plot and writing.

Main character is "badass" with "blades out of his elbows". That's enough for me to give up on the writing quality.

But nano enhancements are cool and more sensible? :p
His arm is entirely prosthetic, they can go to whatever lengths and still make sense out of it...duh

Yeah, and it runs really smooth too!

And looks like crap ;\. Graphics are really bad and edgeAA dont do anything in DX 9.
BTW game runs quite fine, but there is some bug with streaming/loading that decreases framerate for a second drastically, but its beta, I had same thing in Crysis 2 beta.

I don't think it looks bad, I think its great and the artwork is already pretty fantastic. If I had to complain about one thing then I'd complain about how the lights are far too dimmed, but I don't know if its the videos or the game itself (but judging by how every video seems to be affected I think its the game itself)

My friend who is a huge Deus Ex fan played the preview version a while ago (he's a journalist, so no leaked version) and he said that the game will appease the old fans.

My problem is that the whole yellow/orange/shiny "art style" puts me off, for starters.

I think they mentioned it once that the golden and black palette signifies the prosperity of the human civilization during that age and day. Blue would've made it look exactly like Bladerunner but then Blue color is way too overused in sci fi setting.

The gold represents, you know, the Golden Era, the Renaissance, the cybernetics, the human side. Gold is an earthy tone, like gold is from the earth, right. The black is the dystopic side. Also, put together it's a really rich palette that games haven't really used yet. In-game, there are some games that have a bit of those colors in certain environments, when it's a little brownish or whatever it kind of gets close to it. In terms of marketing and presentation it hasn't been used."

Apparently a press version has been leaked containing an entire chapter of the game. First reactions are that the game is very good and a real spiritual successor of DX1, with lots of depth and variety.

Anyone here tried it? Can you turn off stylish single button presses™/takedowns?

I'm sorry but why would you want to 'turn if off' ? if you don't wanna use it then simply avoid yourself from using it. You can play it exactly like you played DE1, the new features are just additions over the old one there is not a single thing that has been removed. And they are limited to the amount of energy cells you have ie. one move = 1 energy cell, also you have to sneak up on enemy to actually be able to use then as well as have the enemy inside your reticule (hence your point that you made on previous page becomes moot).

so what your saying is when you get the "press attack button" for finishing move you can tell the game not to execute the finishing move and instead execute a normal attack ?

ofcourse, you can do a normal attack which would be using a stun gun or a pistol or a tranquilizer..etc etc

What about plot interactivity, the main criteria if the game has role-playing in it? Where the guide rails aren't too obvious like i.e.,
killing or not killing Anna Navarre
and
saving Paul Denton
. They are present, just Integrated flawlessly into the design.
