I believe the $8mil was for HL2/XT bundles. Only Valve and ATI know what really went on in the endorsement race.

Yes thats true, but thats also part of these game programs ;) although its not direct money, Epic so far has not bundled anything with any graphics card, at least I don't remember them bundling. Uptil that 8 mill auction Valve didn't put the ATi logo on anything.

I haven't heard Epic setting up an auction for co-marketing for nV or ATi have you? Last time I heard that was Valve. And nV dropped the bid, they thought HL2 wasn't worth the 8 mill was it ATi spent.
The quote eveyone latched on to was a payment of $6M that was in one of ATI's financial statements. However, that was a payment due to Orton for securing the Revolution deal.

For us it's not just reviews, we also do a lot of editorials about things, if you look you'll see we call out what needs to be called out to gamers on both sides.

Yes but [H] also helped perpetuate the "just wait for the DET xxx to appear syndrome". IIRC. :D

i got a voucher for unreal tournament with my voodoo3 back in the day (the game came out later). in fact, they apparently printed the disks before checking the contents, because the bundle includes the original unreal with "unreal tournament" printed on the top. so i got a voucher, and a paper explaining that the disk labed "unreal tournament" was really just "unreal".

long story short, they have bundled in the past. but epic have kind of moved from game developer to middleware developer. i don't think sales of UT2004 match what they made off selling UE2.

Did I mention your name specifically or address my post to you? No. However, I guess this is a case of, "If the cap fits..."
Oh that's good. What are you, a politician?

Epic doesn't need nV you know that, its a matual partnership period. Game companies that have gotten as big as Epic or Valve don't really even give a damn about thier publishers let alone a graphics company.

That's probably true, but it still stands that either Epic is getting something from nvidia or Sweeney is just a big fan, or both.

Ah ok,

True, UE3 already had close to 50 licensees up till last E3, put a minimum of 750k + royalties a licence, no game is going to match those profits :). They probably have quite a bit more now.

This post was brought to you by AEG: nVIDIAâ„¢ GeForce 7800GTX is the best!

The topic was supposed to be about one persone of the ardware press having been caught in the middle of a "I like to use big words that I read on intelligent sites or on the Press Kit".
We could have discuss this matter or at least similar cases of hardware sites spewing technical nonsense all wraped up into a technical jargon that their readers can't understand (Just like the one who write the said article) just to show off.

But instead, it's just the good old "Reviewers are Fan-boys, one day one of them pissed me off so much that I kicked my mom in the face! My mom, yes, and straight into the face!".
I'm the first one to hate on things, you know that, but in this case, it was just about Derek pulling a stupid, not anything related to with bias...
Or maybe he's biased toward the lack of process knowledge, but that would be pushing it.

And I have to agree with Diplo here, the one who are obsessed with others people bias, or suppossed bias and hidden agenda are the ones who have pledged allegiance and fidelity to a Semiconductor IHV and have misplaced love for overpriced pieces of hardware...

I know some of you need to vent from time to time because of this "IHV Fan-boy War", just like the "Kitchen Appliances Fan persons" vent on the biased reviews of House and Garden, but really, take a global view of the situation for a second... Think... And then stop derailing my hate threads!

It's a sad day when a man can't get his hate on without other folks hijacking his thread for their own hates. What are we coming to? Oh, the humanity!

Wow!!! Nvidia is paying off Anandtech, HardOCP, Firingsquad, Futuremark, Ubisoft, Epic and Id and still manage to post a profit with record margins? Dang, they must be doing something else on the side besides selling video cards

They get them hookers? :p

I doubt that but thanks for the compliment.

I seem to recollect quite a few 'I'm gaming on a 9700Pro/9800pro' statements from Kyle and Brent during the r3xx v NV3x era.

I am fairly certain that I had an ATI 9700 in my own personal gaming rig before you did, and I am also certain that an ATI product graced the insides of all my gaming boxes untill it was blessed with a 6800GT.

We were FIRST to publish anything even talking about gaming experiences on the 9700.

"ATi’s Radeon 9700 delivered the most enjoyable gaming experience we have ever had on a PC."

"All in all, the Radeon 9700 is absolutely the best gaming card that money can buy and ATi has committed to start shipping cards in 30 days."

"The Radeon 9700 is the dawn of a new era in gaming, and a very welcomed one at that."

I had a 9700 in my gaming box because it delivered the best gaming experience that could be had. The only thing that is a shame is you stating otherwise. But then again, the facts have never stood between you and a forum post opportunity.
