Crysis 3

Obviously the PC development path for C3 is different than the console path so it's really not a valid argument.

Well, the game still has to run on DX9ish hardware. So it should run on DX10 hardware I think? Maybe there is a good technical reason for this not to be the case

The real problem is, Crysis 2 was not very fun compared to Crysis 1... Crysis 2 kept fucking stopping me so the suit could tell me how to play the game, like I am special needs and couldn't shake my own dick after a piss.

It was also way too scripted compared to the first one. There was one part in C2 when I snuck around completely undetected into a sewer, as soon as I passed a certain point (in the sewer all by myself) the dudes immediately knew where I was and dropped a nade down there with me. Gould never told me these guys had ESP

I agree. I still haven't finished C2. It's a very beautiful game but I don't know it's just too much corridor shooter to really suck me in. And honestly the aliens aren't that neat and seem way too cannon foddery for what I would expect from space aliens vs. us. It has excessive Join The Awesome Army Today And Be Macho Awesome even vs. space aliens.

My favorite part of C1 was the first half of the game that has you wandering the jungle going against other humans in any way you can think up.

I managed to get all the way through C2 but it wasn't a very enjoyable game. Amazing visuals and realtime cinematic effects in cutscenes that I doubt would be surpassed any time soon (apart from C3 I guess), it definitely produced some wow moments at full detail but the gameplay and progression itself was annoying and boring.

Well put.. hehe. I'm actually playing through C2 right now (figured I'd better finish it before C3 hits).

It's a little sad that the suit (which is just a suit.. when did it get so smart?) tells me there are "Tactical options available". That means it's actually going to let me choose which way I proceed, something the first game did the entire game. The sad part is that it happens so rarely that the game actually has to tell me about it when it does pop up.

Objectives made a lot more sense in the first game, because you were a soldier on a mission. Your superior tells you to take that hill, you take the hill. But here, you're stuffed into a suit by a total stranger and are taking "orders" from another total stranger over the radio. "Go here, do this, turn around three times, touch your toes, QUICKLY THERE'S NO TIME!!"

Makes me wonder which way C3 will go.

im hoping it will be more open, i think maybe in the sequel they were focused on getting performance up to snuff for consoles, and were working within those constraints. like what can we get to run on ps360? here i think theyve had time to optimize better and there will be room for more of what we saw and loved in the first crysis.

on the other hand, its still in the city... lol, but well see what happens.

I just hope Crytek skips the nasty DRMs...Still haven't gotten the other games due to the installation limit

Edit: looking at Crysis and Warhead on Origin, I don't see any mention of DRM. I guess it's still there though? Crysis 2 mentions the activation limit

Crysis 2 is pretty , but gets boring by the time u think that now the game will open up and let meplay around, cos that never happens, you just keep waiting for it :-/ !

I have no hopes from Crysis 3 after watching the recent videos of the "Train Yard" and others. It is a COD clone in Cryengine : Look explosion ! Look Big Gun !

Ubisoft stole the crown by making FC3. I bet Cevat must be biting his fingers playing FC3 and slapping himself on his forehead thinking why in GOd's name someone knows better how to make a Crytek game than Crytek which is trying so hard to impress but has nothing to offer. FC3 isn't perfect, but Crysis type of Gunplay and vehicle gameplay in an FC3 environment is what Crysis 3 should have been if they wanted to make a hit ! Too bad they were staring at COD all the time, instead making their designers work on their strenghts.

Or maybe every designer who had worked on Crysis 1 has left , expelled or shut up.

I'm sure EA is part of the reason since EA is their funding. Mass Effect is rather COD too now.

But FC3 sells too and it isn't a COD clone ! Well, but when I think about it , they Did stuff in a totally linear "Look big explosion" campaign in it too, but atleast they did give us an open free world to conquer.

The ironic part is that FC3 is only doing what Crytek themselves used to do.

Exactly what I am saying ! What Crytek used to do was good and would sell, but instead they are trying to do what IW does better by copying them and hoping they will do it better ?!?
They missed the boat already ! They gave up their selling point in favour of copying another guy's formula.

They also say they're going 100% Free To Play once their contractual obligations for the Crysis series has been met
