Critter Crunch

Man, I just keep getting slaughtered online. I've tried and tried, but I just can't win a match to save my life, lol. I always seem to win out with bigger chains and more points, but in the end I still lose overall.

This makes me a very sad panda :(

Game acquired !

Heh heh, I saw Arwin playing Critter Crunch too. And Shifty is checking out Topatoi. I almost bought that game yesterday, but decided to give Critter Crunch a go first.

I have 1 week to wrap this up before PJ Shooter arrives.

So that's like +3 sales because of this thread? Awesome stuff guy's :) I'm sure the developer will appreciate it! Pass on the word so we see more of this kind of great stuff.

Yep, decided to go for it. Pretty good so far, I think I got my money's worth already. ;) It's extremely smooth and well presented. Sound is forgettable and it's a shame they didn't bother to include the XMB music, screenshot or Youtube features, but the graphics crisp, colorful and at times outright beautiful and the controls are excellent. At times I'm now thinking what an HD remake of Rainbow Islands could look like ;) (some bits of the art are a tad 'derivative', but done very, very well)

Bah, I got that... it has a very old skool feel but was a little too slow paced for my liking. Unfortunately I deleted it before giving it a proper chance. This is much better IMO. Will have to venture online soon.

I think hand drawn sprite @60fps is pretty demanding, IIRC. It's the reason why most 2D fighting games this gen (well, all...2 or 3 of them?) have had low res sprites that are upscaled.

I thought that was because those games mostly didn't fully redraw all the animations (which is a tonne of work) but just the environments.

Thanks deep for the versus training. ;)

Well, I'll be honest, I'm just speaking from things I've heard in developer interviews, which quite possibly could be FUD.

I think I heard it for SFII HD Remix and then later with KOFXIII, don't recall hearing anything about this from the BlazeBlue team though.

Anyone know of any other sprite driven 2D games in HD on PS3/360?

Game can be tricky. I haven't mastered the "pattern recognition" yet. I am using greedy or brute force strategy right now.

Yes, I demand a cut of those profits now, brcause i have gotten at least two more to buy also :)

That's alright...I got tired towards the end and started to lie sideways...this meant that I kept going one row too far along lol. Was weird...so i had to compensate for the optical illusion...which didn't work out so well :p

There has been a fair share of discussion on this topic on various podcasts. AFAIK, BlazeBlue is fully HD graphics, including on the animations, and it shows versus KOF.

There are actually quite a few of them. But the animation requirements for 2D fighting games are considerable, which is why you usually only see shortcuts there.

Good games Eyes! :D

Well they where a little bit better for you than me, since you beat me 6 out of 7 times or something to that effect :) Great fun!

So should we do a b3d cc tourney, we can arrange it through the b3d chat channel and we just use a best out of 5 match between the players. And then the winner advances to the next round, we could do a random draw to setup the matches or we could do seeding based on a players versus rank.

I could probably whip together some sort of web page and bla bla if people are interested :D

Hehe I think I won about 8 :p I was giggling when you kept wanting to play. I'd get frustrated after 3 losses lol.

That sounds fun! :)

Am I the only one who has struggled with some of the Puzzles? Sheesh, puzzle games shouldn't be so puzzling.

Haven't tried online yet - but am intrigued. I'd be interested in anything arranged.

Cheers.

Heh, I'm losing more and more confidence as I progress. Still in Adventure mode. Managed to squeeze through the puzzle and time challenge levels so far. A few times I didn't know how I cleared the level :p

They are tough...but keep trying - really really struggled through adventure mode, but find them ok now. Tis weird - you gain skills as you progress.

I had to get help for some puzzles :)
