COD2 Reviews

Well you started it by saying it's CGI which it isn't.
Realtime videos and CGI are two entirely different things in my book.
No you started it by coming in and mentioning how the "realtime" demos of Motorstorm and Killzone are something we should look at if we want to see "games" with nice smoke effects and such.
To which i responded that those CGI videos should not be taken as example for next gen games, until we see real games that look like that, which still hasn't happened.

Now stop posting nonsense coated in sugar to make it look like you know what you're talking about, cause you don't.

I think you are on the wrong side of this discussion.

Sure I don't.
You don't even know what CGI is if it won't hit on the head that's why you still call it CGI videos.

Well, okay . . . but why would you even waste time to argue such a ridiculously obvious point? Seriously, it seems like you're just trying to start (or continue) a PC vs console argument.

You thinks its ridiculously obvious and I thinks its ridiculously obvious, but there are still some people who don't. In fact to be honest im not completely convinced myself.

I think the X360 might genuinly look and run better than the best PC's (due to very poor optimisation on the PC side) however I would just like to know for sure if that the case because from what I have seen and heard so far, the evidence is far from conclusive.

FYI, here's a benchmark for the GTX 512 SLI:

I know Killzone was only running 5fps but still it was realtime running on the alpha kit.
With Killzone they only showed that movie as what Killzone could look like in the future.

The developer of killzone jon-bartz i believe said in an ign interview its only a representation of gameplay and that it is not infact real time but cgi . There is a cgi artist on the forum La-YOshi I believe is the spelling that has taken the time to explain why some things in the video could only be cgi . I sugest you take time to search for his posts and learn .

A little tip for you and the other ignorant CGI calling blokes.
Just because a realtime fragment isn't in-game doesn't mean it's CGI.
If that's CGI then 3Dmark, techdemo's etc. are all CGI then.
CGI are Computer Generated Images (hence CGI) being processed on for hours by large cluster servers that's nothing like realtime videos.

You have diffrent things .

IN game visuals (any game )
Game engine cut scenes (a cut scene that has no ai or physics and thus has slightly higher quality)
Real time demos (Like mgs4 where its prescripted so no ai or physics and the graphics on the screne are planed out as to keep requirements as controlled as possible)
Cgi (killzone stuff thats done on render farms)

You obviously don't. And you wouldn't even have to if you read these pages well enough. These videos were proved as CGI a loooong time ago.

But if believing they're realtime makes you feel better, just ignore me. But then you'll have to ignore pretty much everyone on these boards, cause you're still one of the 2 or 3 insane guys on here who actually believe those videos were realtime, even after the developers themselves said they were CGI.

Killzone is/was 100% software rendered at it is no more realtime than Monsters Inc. or The Incredibles. There are no reason to even discuss this as it has been confirmed to be prerendered a long time ago.

From my understanding it was a realtime video which was only running 5fps on the alpha kit.
Which then was edited use some film effects by some CGI company (forgot the name but I remember reading about it in the Edge) to make it look a 60fps video.
With Motorstorm Evolution didn't agrea or disprove with the rumours about using the same methods as Killzone which can mean it could be either.

Nope only the Killzone video was proved to be edited by a CGI company.
Read edited not fabricated.

All other videos like F1, Heavenly Sword, Killingday, I-8, Warhawk were all in-game.
Tedd Price of Incognito (developer of I-8) said the video showed at the PS3 E3 conference was footage in-game played by one of their developers.

No it was confirmed by the developer to be prerendered:

"It's basically a representation of the look and feel of the game we're trying to make,"

A friends of mine actually worked in production on the PS3 Killzone video, and if you want to ask she work for a anmation production company not a game developer.

I found this years E3 very funny about an hour after everyone went mad over the Killzone vid in my job i got an email from my friend, she moved back to scotland a couple of years ago to say had i seen the Killzone video they had been working on. Up until that point everyone, me included thoughit was realtime. Sad really, if you actually looks at it in depth it is rather obvious it was all CG but the hype machine had by then taken off. Sony really are master of that. If one thing has put me off buying a PS3 and getting a 360 it was this whole incident. The fact then Sony never properly explain wat they were showing etc. is IMHO appalling. I mean there is generating hype for your next box fair enough and there is straight foward bullshit. Sony fall into the later camp as far as I am concerned.

Ya, I had like 30 minutes when I was like "Holy CRAP PS3 is amazing!!"

Then I was like...."wait a sec...I just watched spiderman the movie....with GT4 cars inlayed...wtf was that?"

Demonstration of the Blu-ray interactive capabilities, maybe?
Mixing live action footage with interactive high quality 3D graphics... I'm not saying that's the direction I hope future games are to take, but as an extra content in BR movie discs that would be cool.

So Your going to punish Sony by making an uneducated purchase of what may end up being the inferior system anyway? Yeah that'll show them.

if it was 5fps, then video edited to make 60 fps, this is NOT realtime
this is prerendered

so for the 60 fps you need a 1200% increase, I doubt that ps3 is 12x the beta kit, or with some optimizations, 10x

so I bet that killzone will have some huge graphical downgrade, and I guess a 30 locked fps
this can be feasible

now, please don't turn this thread in a "woah KZ2 OWNZ 4 TEH WIN"

COD2 approached Killzone2, though.

So, it seems possible.

Anyway, Sony is going to face the music on that one sooner or later. Whether they pull it of or dont.

Well, heavenly sword was around 5FPS in some scenes, and has since become playable.

KZ was never in-engine, it's pre-rendered CG. How simple can it get when Sony says: "This is a representation of the game" pretty freakin obvious it's NOT the actual game.
