CELL will be there in PS3!

XBox2 should be 3 Ghz Prescott at least - with 1 GB ram.

then duel R500s (rather than R400s) with 256MB each :D
in 2005.

that could rain on Sony's parade :D

well considering the r400 wont be out till 2004 and neither would the nv40 i wouldn't count on the 500 and 50 being ready for 2005 . At least not mature enough to be used in the console

a.) Despite the lack of 3rd party support, Dreamcast had one of the best years in terms of software. This point is moot.

It might have the best software iyo, but imo, i didnt like DC overemphasis on arcade-sports titles.

Square, Konami, Enix, EA and a few are missing. Even Namco, Tecmo and Capcom brought little big titles to the DC. The lack of RPGs totally kills it in Japan. Those are major software missing, something people can also bring up against Xbox*. But thats not the point. DC just lack the software ummph to lure the masses.

*Xbox might lack the strong Japanese RPG support of PS2, but it is faring much better in terms of Western support and the overall Japanese support is pretty good, a tad better than DC imo.

"Firstly, you have to find me saying PS3 is only to fail......I think the good logical posters in this topic have never suggested that PS3 will be another runaway success just like that, unlike someone.... "

And again show me where I said ps3 would be a runaway success, oh wait you can't.

"-Sega reputation with consumers and developers took a big hit during the disasterous SCD/32X/Saturn years.
-Sega ran out of cash to support the DC.

Do you see that happening to MS/Nintendo this gen?

Hype/mindshare can only bring you so far IF you screwed up the rest of your cards."

Dreamcast was doing fine prior to PS2 thank you very much, Sega pulled the plug. And now your changing the subject, this was the topic at hand.

"Mindshare/Brand recognition can only bring you so far IF you screwed up your next system."

Which you already got proved wrong with, ps2 is screwed hardware and yet it's beating everything. So, mindshare/brand is making ps2 win, got a point to argue against that?

"The other case could be an xbox 2 in 2005 with halo 2 , half life 2 , doom 3 , quake 4 , full line up of sports , a few rpgs , a few action adventure games . Good strong line up. Very nice"

And what would be the point? All these games you can get on the PC, and they are better on the PC also. If xbox2 is going to continue to get constant rehashes and games from the PC i'm not buying it, especially since I can get them all on the PC.

Yet an other thread de-railing. Fear, threat, insuring of hope, followship of platforms/brands ... the whole situation is sooo pathetic

The point would be that instead of spending 3 grand on a system to run them u would spend 300 bucks . Whats the point of getting the modem for the ps2. U can play all those games or better on the computer .

really!!! so i can play GT4 online on my PC!!! wow when is that coming out!?!? oh wait.... NEVER...
out of all the systems u go pick up PS2 which has the most exclusive non-PC games out of them all...

I can play Twisted Metal Black Online on the computer?

If ms really wants to throw dirt on sony (if sony is coming out in 2007) they could release a xbox 2 with a 2.5ghz p4 , 1gig of ram and a dual r400 gpu with 256megs of ram each. It will be expensive but it be unsurpassed for a good two years before sony can come out with something. That is just one case of ms doing something . The other case could be an xbox 2 in 2005 with halo 2 , half life 2 , doom 3 , quake 4 , full line up of sports , a few rpgs , a few action adventure games . Good strong line up. Very nice

Do you know what, it does actually make sense what you just said: Microsoft will have no way of knowing when Sony will launch - it will be a lucky guess sort of. I can already see them launching their console in 2005 thinking they beat Sony to the market by 2 years when Sony releases its specs for release at the end of year. Now that would be a shock...

and you'll hear jvd, chap and all the likes grasping *but* *but* *but*...

You can play many online racers on the pc that are better than the ps2 versions . Hell i've been playing online racers on my pc for the last 3 years. I will even raise that . I've been playing online racers since my saturn.

Dont speak too soon. The last i heard, Polyphony is planning for a PS2 and PC version!

Yeah, you're right! Last I heard, Bungee was thinking of developing Halo 2 for PS2 too!

Thats your side of speculation. Now for my side, what if PS3 is not 1000X, what if mindshare and the rest failed Sony...

Now that would be a shock...and you'll hear Paul, Phil and all the likes grasping *but* *but* *but*... :p j/k j/k!

AHEM! back to topic. 8)

Mabye. Of course it could go the otherway around and sony releasing specs and some how ms coming out with something double the performance of the ps3.... but in a surprise move nintendo beats both the systems specs and hten from out of the ashes like a phonix sega releases the dc 2 which is faster than 48 ps3s linked together 6 months after the ps3 is launched :p

you see, I'm not even basing my arguement around how powerful those next gen systems will be. I know you think it will make a difference, but the difference to the casual consumer will be as important as it is now = non existant. And these consoles are already seperated by over a year...

TMBO a piece of shit? You haven't played it, it's the reason why I bought the adapter in the first place.

I'm a huge TM fan, your starting to sound ignorant JVD. Really, think before you speak, your a moderator.

I have played twisted metal black. Haven't played online. You may be a huge TM fan but i never cared for it. TmB had horrible view distance , bad controlls and just stupid sound effects.
