Burnout: Paradise City

When did Burnout have explosions!????

Burnout 3 and Revenge had explosions.

It's all about learning the track and route - and once you've done that, this is pure Burnout GOLD.

The problem isn't the track, it's the lack of a sense of speed and the sterility of the crashes compared to previous versions. It feels alot like NFS, which isn't that bad of a thing IMO, because it'll probably force me to at least rent it (since NFS:pS is even worse), but it's not 'Burnout GOLD'.

Not that good explosions.

The sense of speed was there...you look at your cars specs? 1/15 boost. Watch the 1up show (if you can stand it) - the sense of speed is there.

It is Burnout Gold.

Played both (360 & PS3)

The Good: The PS3 version feels a whole lot smoother, like its actually hitting 60fps constantly. Both version cars are quite equal, however the reflections have a bit more clarity in the PS3. Also draw distance seems to favor PS3, there’s a bit of drawing going on (pop-up) with the Xbox 360 version.

The bad: Both versions have aliasing going on all over the place.

The Ugly: For God sake put a driver in the vehicle.

Demo Score: PS3 8/10 & Xbox 360 7.5/10

Still better than any 360>PS3 port then.

Yes, that was my point. 360 owners are better off than PS3 owners have been when all the ports have gone the other way.

I'm sure they haven't used the PS3 to the maximum (making concessions for being multiplatform from the get go), but both versions are very close, a couple of minor things that average joe wouldn't even notice (as they would only have one version)

Maybe there is truth to the line of thinking that leading on the PS3 does indeed help the 360 version, the other way around it seems to kill the "ported" version.

Gadzooks! You mean to say developers know what they're talking about when they tell us this?! And all this time I thought they were just pulling our legs...

To be fair it's only one developer and one publisher that had made the "breakthrough" in this regard (Criteron and Midway), the rest seem blissfully unaware.

Other devs try their best to convince everyone that they are "identical" when in fact the PS3 version is the poor relation.

Also, it's only Criteron so far that have stated leading on PS3 makes the 360 version better, and to be perfectly honest, I didn't believe them as they are as big PS fanboys as I am ;)

 Just a few posts ago you were implying they didn't exist.

I found the demo disappointing, and not a very good representation of the series.

Are you really trying to convince me that my opinion is wrong.

I always seemt o remember saying when playing Burnout "where's the fire and explosions"....and only remember being able to blow up your car in latter burnouts.

I'm not saying you SHOULD like it - I'm saying you should stick with it and learn the tracks, the routes, play online, and realise the abilities of the car. Because it really does turn out to be classic Burnout. And that's coming from a massive Burnout fan

Played the demo, looks and plays like a great game, but I feel too that something is lacking compared to the last two burnouts.

Any crash events to be found in the demo? I did some races and stunt event but I'm missing all the big crash setups.

I still dont understand whats in the dmeo. Is it just one town where you drive and see others online?

There is no crash mode they took it out of the show time thing. No crash mode = no sale as far as I am concerned. It is like a football/soccer game with out francise mode.

There are points on the map where you start races from.

Online and offline. As far as I could tell most of them started at junctions.

Didn't bother with any though as I was trying to drive round the map and smash all the billboards. Seems to me that you can unlock things by doing it.

There are 15 billboard in the PS3 demo, I just smashed them all and all 35 yellow "private" fences and nothing unlocked, seems like I was wrong.

Couldn't find the one of the 6 big jumps though.

Huh, are the demos known to have different content? I'm pretty sure it was 6 billboards and 37 yellow marked fences in the 360 demo, though suppose I may have been hallucinating.
