Burnout: Paradise City

* Bought * This seems like a true winner.. i´m happy surprised.

A little note, it supports DTS and @ 1536kbit.

Online is started while you drive around, i did a Freeburn session (Me + 3 players), alot of fun were had. You compete in Jump, Barrel Rolls, Power Barking, Against Traffic, Biggest Air etc etc. And of course you can take others down.

All very seemless and extremely fast.

It supports USB camera for your Driverlicense, and maybe even ingame?

Downloading off PSN now, too bad I cant compare with 360 version (have a silver account + i'm banned :p) But the the EU/AUS store update was crap! No PAIN and NO Bowling :( Was keen on both...

Initial impression - Very polished demo. This is the way demo's should be released. Runs lightning fast. Very easy to use. Turns into a cool screensaver when you go idle. I'm not a huge racing fan and Motorstorm has been sufficient when I need a fix. I hadn't paid too much attention to this title but the demo has me now considering a purchase. Good job EA. I'll be toying around with this one all weekend.

Getting a video up to Blim, its a comparison between PS3 and 360. I'll say this, They did a hell of a job on the port. I cant spot one difference at all and Im a picky bastard. Very nice work, if you pick it up on either platform I'd say the graphics are exactly alike.

So I was just going to try this game for a few minutes. Then I made a server up, and 3 others joined, and it was an hour later... Pretty fun game.

Looks good, crashes were cool, gameplay was fun for a bit but no thanks. Don't think I'm up for a sandbox racing game.

It reminded me of Crackdown! but without all the killing fun :(

Pass.

Asked my friends on PSN to get the game so we could try some of the Coop stuff. Is there a preview somewhere that mentions what the Coop stuff is and what you can do.

Looking forward to playing again, the game is pure fun, only thing i am missing is a replay feature :)

Just tried both 360 and PS3 versions back to back. Both seemed to look and run just about identically. Maybe the reflections on your car on the PS3 version are a bit more pronounced? Thats about the only difference I could see. Game runs fast and smooth and looks nice although you can tell it has a 60fps amount of detail, so 30fps games do look better. The trade off though for this game makes total sense since 60fps is key to Burnout.

Not sure though, playing it gave me a definite sense of dejavu. I've played two of the previous versions and I dunno, I think I may be done with the Burnout series. I'll have to play with it some more though, who knows maybe it'll grow on me again.

Whats the difference?, the contrast?.

It may just be me, but the ground texture looks a bit more blurrier on the PS3. Might be a deal breaker if you're a ground texture enthusiast (lol).

Why god did they make the demo use the trigger buttons for acceleration, WHY!!!!!!!!!

So cannot be arsed with it now, I hope you can map the controls in the full game.

I tried it on PS3 (may try 360 later) and liked it. I like the online stuff (great friends integration, very smooth online/offline transitions), the free world stuff, the hidden shortcuts, the PS Eye integration ... I did have one freeze though when 3 people joined my open free burning session. I don't like the jumping physics as much. Don't know if I'll get it, but it seems very decent.

Acceleration/boost controls are the same as Motorstorm, so I guess I'm used to it now .

I haven't played Motorstorm in a while, I suppose they aren't that bad on games that are basically on/off like Motorstorm and burnout, but I am so used to playing GT on the sticks any car game just doesn't feel right on the trigger buttons.

I know how you feel, but in this case the camera view would be an issue :)

You can change them in Motorstorm though - as I have done - so the Trigger-button becomes the boost and X is accelerate.

I prefer that setup for arcade games personally.

After playing the 360 demo, I'm disappointed.

Good job EA. I'm a big fan of Burnout and NFS and in one year you've managed to alienate me from both franchises. Burnout without explosions is just plain wrong.

When did Burnout have explosions!????

It's all about learning the track and route - and once you've done that, this is pure Burnout GOLD.
