Bloodborne: [PS4] (From Software)

I stayed in front of her. The supposed winning strategy of attacking her from behind simply didn't work for me. That said, I did quite a few thing before I actually tackled her. Have you been to Old Yharnam yet? Or The Witches Hemlock? Amelia is one tough lady. I'd avoid her for now.

Old Yar yes, Witch nope... So I guess I'll go there first.

Not sure how I feel about the complete lack of guidance. No idea where I'm meant to go half the time. I think I like it.

I wouldn't really call it a complete lack of guidance. Old Yharnam. The Witches, the Nightmare world, Cainhurst and probably other areas I haven't come across yet myself - sure, some of them are easy to miss. But then they're all optional. If you just wanna make a beeline for the next story event however, the relevant location is usually fairly hard to miss.

Compared to the Dark Souls games, Bloodborne is a really straightforward experience.

Okay so I've just purchased this and I got killed immediately and have no idea where to find a weapon. Any ideas? I died and ended up in a park.....

When you die you go the graveyard and get your weapons from the ground ghost things.

Edit: LOL @ park, the park with the gravestones right? Ya, just walk around and click on everything, one gravestone with the ghosts will send you back to the house where you died.

Yeah, I've done that. Nearly killed the first dude with a torch, but still have no weapons. Is that normal?

No, you get the weapons off the ground in the park. Maybe you need to equip them? Use the option button and put the gun in one hand and the melee in the other. Use left/right D-pad to switch or equip.

I'd suggest to read 2 minutes online on how to get started. It can be quite jarring compared to all the other in-your-face games that hold your hand through every single step.

I couldn't find anything that gave me advice on where the weapons are. I've been on YouTube and I think I've got it now. And thanks to the above too.

Wait until you see that the same philosophy is carried through the whole game. You literally are given no idea where to go and what to do, and you're left to figure it out to yourself. I never played a Souls game (apart from an hour or so of Demon, hated it) so it's quite a shock. But hey, I've not been addicted to a game for a long time.

How do you guys find the gameplay? Is it a matter of skill or is it unbalanced and hence its just a matter of trial and error?

Both, but I wouldn't say it's unbalanced. The game just doesn't tell you what enemies are beyond your level so you do end up dying by trail and error.

I don't have a PS4, but I got enamoured with the gameplay of this game, from what I've seen in youtube videos -in fact I was going to share @RenegadeRocks video , this one, but he's shared it already - .

Finally a game where the AI isn't stupid or just there to take a lot of flack without doing anything. If you watch Renegade's video, you can just see the AI doesn't fight using aimless patterns. I quite like the shaders in the hero's costume after the fight.
