Bloodborne: [PS4] (From Software)

Upgraded my HDD to the Seagate 1GB SSHD hybrid drive. It certainly helped the load times, even if it's only a 25% gain.

I think the Crow-Dogs ( or is it Dog-Crows) are one of my favorite enemy designs in the game ( Nightmare of Nemsis).

I just encountered the third boss, holy shit this game just gets better and better. I mean the sheer creativity of the enemy design, environment art, the ridiculous amount of details littered in every corner of the level and the smooth as butter animation. I demand a photomode FROM, it's only fair to show case the world without the constant attacks from enemy and bosses. I feel like I'm not even scratching the surface of the this game at this point on, haven't even touched Chalice Dungeon yet lol.

My second try at it....aaaalmost got him/her ! Oh that feeling of just one more go and I can get it right , addictive and exhilarating :yep2: !

I'd recommend giving up a bit of Insight for that boss. He's a real toughy.

Everyone should play this online even if you're not going to request an assist, the hints can be hilarious and quite helpful.

No wonder! The cane is not for boss battles. It deals measly damage to creatures who can pretty much one-shot kill you.
You should get the Holy blade, level it up a bit and this boss in particular will be relatively easy.

It becomes available at some point in the shop and costs 20,000 echoes.

I might remember wrong and it might become available after that beast, however. Can't remember. But any weapon will be better than the cane for boss battles.

I only use that. Although I'll start using others at some point just to have some variety. I've almost finished the game now.

So I got the co-op bell and joined a few games. Does it match you with people near you in location? What if I'm in a new area and have not killed the boss, can I join other people's games and see the level without risk? Co-op seems like a good way to get souls, since you can't lose them.

The best way to defeat the Blood Starved Beast is to
use Visceral Attacks.
It's very easy to "counter" it given how slow it is.
I just waited for the Beast to get close enough to me and as soon as it raised its arm I shot it in the face with the Blunderbuss, then I used VA on it...rinse and repeat.

It's really a very,very easy boss IMO.

Also Ludwig Holy Blade can't be obtained before this boss battle.

Thanks!!
Does it scale well with skill?
Yes its a skill weapon so start levelling up that instead of strength, it will help. Get both to above 20 at least, although fortifying the weapons will give you much more immediate results than the personal upgrades.

Don't use all your blood stones and especially twin blood stones to upgrade your first weapon as you'll find them a lot more useful to get the holy blade up in level. After a bit it kills a lot of the minor enemies with one hit.

If only we knew! Nothing much is explained. You see a 'ghost' player running around and you can join. But I dont think anyone knows if he matches to your level.

Actually I only realised those 'ghosts' were players actually running around now a few days ago, many hours into the game.

I've been so enthralled in the game that I haven't used the bells at all. Ever. I'm really a Lone Survivor.

I'll give it a go next time I'm at home.

I'm now at level 80 or so, which I think is a bit over the top for a first playthrough, as I can kill most things with one or two hits.

I still die a lot, like an idiot, because I'm cocky about it, thinking I'll just slash my way through everything but of course I get my ass handed to me over and over.

I wonder whether I should start invading people's games and slaughter a few of them.

If I have a skill based character, why should I also bring strength over 20?

Because you can!

I'll check when I get home but I think strength will also increase the weapon's level, just not as much as skill. Sometimes both values increase the weapon's power the same, sometimes skill will give it a point more than strength. It might be because one form gives 'thrust' attacks, while the second form is blunt? No friggin idea!
Just fortify it with blood stones - which add tens of points at a time - and add personal points as needed - which add one or two points at a time, and you might want to use these to increase vitality and endurance since it's the only way to increase those stats.

Actually if you are good at parrying so you can get VAs in, the cane does pretty good against that boss. It's a very forgiving weapon to use as while attack don't do as much damage, they also don't drain as much stamina. And for many being able to dodge frequently while getting in the occasional attack works better for them than more powerful attacks with less ability to dodge after.

Heavy hitting weapons can net you faster boss kills, but require significantly more player skill to use well. Otherwise you just end up dying more often which negates the whole benefit of faster boss kills.

SB
