Just got this game today off Amazon. What are we saying resolution wise? Am I better off unticking 1080p in the display settings on the XMB?

    I don't think it's conclusive because of Crapotin's post. I myself run it on a 720p monitor.

playing at 720p would be a safe bet. once the patch is released, they might default to 720p so you don't have to untick 1080i/1080p.
    personally, i didn't see much of a difference at 720p and 1080p.

From the patched images 2k have shown it doesn't appear to make any difference once the patch is applied (I think someone has already commented that they cannot tell the difference with the retail release as is)

Same here, I've switched back and forth between 720p and 1080p and can't notice any difference from a normal viewing distance. Maybe, texts are a little bit sharper in 720p but that could be a placebo effet. That says a lot about the quality of Bioshock's upscaling, because my Pio G9 upscaling is very very good.

Once again, the demo was horrible in 1080p, blurry as hell, even the XMB looked awful. The final game looks very clean in 1080p. Oh, I'm very sensitive to screen tearing and I haven't seen any after 6 hours with V-Sync set to off. There are some slowdowns, the game being constantly running between 30 and 45-50 fps, but no screen tearing. Not a bad port, after all. The 360 version runs a little bit better (it tops 45-50 fps more frequently) and is a little sharper, but when all is said and done, both versions are virtually the same ! Great job, considering Unreal Engine is not PS3's best friend.

Finally get to sit down and play the game (Decided to finish this before starting on LBP and R2). Great game ! I like the watery world a lot. It's a pity the character models are a little chunky but they do not detract from the gameplay.

I like hacking the bots as well. The hacking mini-game reminds me somewhat of the Ratchet and Clank's decryptor mini-game.

    Man I hated the hacking...

After getting bored in the middle, I finally forced myself to get back and finish it. I decided to Rambo through the end and it was much less tedious than how I played the beginning.

Ha ha yes, after some jumpy start, I decided to Rambo all the way too since the Vita Chamber allowed me to resume where I died.

I have been finding time to play Bioshock and am constantly getting (pleasantly) surprised. I am in what I believe is the fourth level
    a casino, theatre area
and am surprised at how much more appears to be left. A good FPS game is all about atmosphere and this game has it in spades. There is a definite Alice and Wonderland feel to it and the audio ties everything together.

I am curious as to how B3Ders now and past - please withouth spoilers - treated the Big Daddy/ Little Sister issue.

You mean harvest vs rescue ? I have not made any judgement call yet. I might never. Right now, I am kinda alternating between save and rescue. The Vita Chamber will ensure I survive till the end anyway.

I saved them all. In terms of Adam it doesn't really matter as you get gifts from little sisters, that even out the initial loss compared to harvest, which occurs when you save them.

This is the path that I have taken thus far (and plan on continuing to take in the first playthrough). What sort of confused me at first are the lone Big Daddys
I mistakenly walked by one when he looked into the Little Sister hole and after knocking, one crawled out. I know that this doesn't always happen, but I was glad to figure this out early on.

I'd like to know that, too. Perhaps he jumped on the Big Daddy then crouched behind him and found that but I don't know. It's just a theory, I can't ask the guy, though.

I accidentally did it too but I dont know how. The first few times I played the game the dead big daddy didnt expose any physics and I coulld not get inside him. Shooting or hitting him didnt do anything. He just remained like a rock on that position.

To my surprise the last time I played I hit him with my wrench and the corpse moved. I noticed that by that moment I could walk straight through him.

Didn't have the heart to kill them, so saved them all on the first play through.
Big achievement on the 360 as bonus if you do this
    .

Second play through I killed every single one
    - No achievement :)

    Cheers

I harvested them all on my first play though. It felt right to do *shrug*. I want to go back through on hard and save them all but my backlog is, well, backlogged right now.

Jumping in without reading the whole thread (sorry): which is better, 360 or PS3 or the same?

    Simple calculation.

If you own one of the two consoles buy the game.
If you own both buy the 360 version because it is cheaper.
    If you own neither then...
