no, the games features co op over all the single player experience.
and of course even in multiplayer mode

Yeah I know there's co-op. But is the single player co-op split screen or XBL only? The video that we have is of split screen multiplayer not co-op. Not that I doubt it, just clarifying.

Vertical!? YES! BOut freakin time dev's started using the 16:9 screens correctly.

this is what I mean for vertical split

given the thirth person POV, this permit to see a large area, very good

Ya that's what I consider horizontal splitscreen, lame :devilish:

Agreed, although in a tactical FPS in 3rd person, and seemingly little high rise elevation, it makes sense, possibly, from a game design perspective. But in general I agree, I would much prefer the game divided into the left and right quadrants of the monitor in most games.

you know for Halo2 I hated the horizontal split (HDTV) but mainly because of the jumping. It impaired your view.

With Gears I think since you are not playing in a vertical space (no leaping) this might be better and gives you a much more fair peripheral view.

I would really prefer that they gave each player roughly a 4:3 screen, and placed black bars along the top and bottom.

Sure you'd lose some screen real estate, but each player would get a full screen to themselves.

It's not a big deal, but 16:9 just seems so much better suited for a vertical split.

for the gameplay, it's better as it is, than 2 4:3 screen where you see a lot of the sky (??) but less of the area around

those teasers blim harvested from the site are very good, especially the third and fourth one down (sera and jacinto)...

the multi play vids look awesome too for the most part - this game can't come soon enough

I disagree heavily. On 4:3 horizontal is a must, and even on 16:9, vertical split just seems weird, it looks better, but it feels wrong once I have to play on it. The picture needs to be wider than it's height, otherwise it's useless imo. It sucks that in Halo2 for example it automatically chooses the split for you, if you have 4:3 tv, it uses horizontal split and if you have 16:9, it uses vertical split, unless you change the settings in the Xbox main settings. The user should be able to play which ever way they choose.

I prefer wider screen.

I perfer wider screen as well, but not at the expense of having a ridiculously short screen, I mean with horizontal split you're talking 32:9 ratio, little extreme imo.

I wish it was user selectable.

I agree
with a wider screen you can see more gameplay (and less sky) so this is the best choice in my opinion

I'd prefer somethign more like this:

On a 49" TV each player would get the equivalent of a 26" 4:3 screen.
