Baldur's Gate III announced!

so... it seems like other games are experiencing the same RAM issue 'cos the console doesn't have enough memory to run two instances of the game, which is necessary for split screen.

Not watched the video but, I'll just say people should be careful linking and drawing lines between this and other titles.

Hallo was also on XO, so who said it had any issues at all on XSS? May not have had any issues implementing it on it, and could have been base X1 or even 1X also.

Forza - who said it had anything to do with XSS why it's missing at launch. Features get cut descoped, pushed back all the time due to development schedules.
There's also other features that have been pushed back with the reason for all being 'don't want it to be focus at launch' (paraphrase) which doesn't make sense to me. Make sense not a focus for them as they've run out of time, but that's besides the point.

To be clear I'm also not saying XSS can't be challenging or a problem. We know that RT had to be dropped on it due to memory before.
Not everything bad is XSS's fault though, especially beyond XSS version, can be many reasons.

Larian couldn't get it working in time to release it with the other platforms getting it. Turn 10 never announced the feature for launch to begin with and it's better not to launch a feature than to launch a broken feature like split screen in GT7 was.
Larian never announced the game for the X-Box...
It's in the video I linked for anyone who's interested.

Absolutely. Halo was announced with split screen and cutting it from only the xbox one/ one x versions would have been a terrible choice for MS. They also had a lot of work to do on the game at launch . If Halo was working on an xbox one base console then it should be able to run on the series s hardware ram foot print included.

I also don't believe Forza ever announced Split screen co-op for launch or even as a feature before this round of press when they said it would't be there at launch.

Squirrel?

This stuff is why people should wait for awhile before tryin to use a game as an industry standard.

Full transparency goes hand-in-hand in creating an industry standard game. Few studios would actually publicly admit to a final day complier error without post QA.
Good to see the internal QA process has changed ....

there is a reason why games like BG3 are very well liked. NBA 2k24 -not that I care anymore about this pseudo basketball simulator which is basically a big casino- has announced another pass, the Season Pass. Pass pass pass.

https://nba.2k.com/2k24/season-pass/

And now this 200$ LoL skin.

Small thing, I started today, thx the devs, it's possible to fully disable AA. It becomes pretty rare, so, it's a nice option to have for people like me who prefer sharpness at the cost of some aliasing/shimering.

I'm trying to find a quote from a AAA dev that said that this game should not be the standard but can't seem to find one...
Has anyone found an actual quote?
I smell drama and outrage for clicks.

I don't think I have ever played this type of RPG. Has it been well received by the general gamer population or is it specifically people who are into these types of games and/or tabletop DnD(I have never played this either)?

These games were extremely popular in the 80/90 early 2000s on PCs. This is what would be considered a CRPG. These are the types of games I grew up with but as PC/Consoles merged together you get the consolifcation of games which dumb games down to apeal to the broader casual gamers.

You can see examples of games like the original Final Fantasys games. They and Dragon Warrior/Quest were inspired by Ultima and wizardry but as you go through the series you see them becoming less about RPG systems and more about action until you end up with FF16. You can even see this with Mass effect. The first one had much more complex systems that were simplified due to the success of the first on consoles

within the page 11 of this very thread you have the IGN video that shows the actual quote from developers, which @techuse shared.

well, my youtube dashboard is daily inundated with videos from people who had never played a CRPG. In fact, I had never played one til I discovered -thx to a friend- Divinity Original Sin like 4 years ago, and fell in love with Divinity series, also with Larian Studios.

Being a hardcore gamer I can tell you that now knowing CRPGs sounds odd, just imagine how many newcomers BG3 has created for the genre, after more than 5 million sales in a few days.

I've seen the video from IGN...
It quotes an indie dev. That's it.
My question was, if there are others (from actual triple A studios), that expressed the same opinion, or it's a case of, taking the quote of a single person and generalizing for exaggeration and clicks...
