It looks like it would have had to hit at least 3.5-4GHz at 350W to compete with the RTX 4090. I doubt it would have been possible even without the bug.

I was expecting worse with RT tbh. They have now around 3090 performances (I just watched Gamer Nexus review), which is still a monster. So, while they're behind 4080, it seems at least that RT is exploitable, which was not always the case with rdna2.

The difference between 4090 (not even a full AD102) and 7900XTX is bigger than 6950XT and 3090TI.

How do you know its on par with a 4080 12 gig fi the 4080 12 gig isn't even out ?

It's as fast as a 4080 16 gig in traditional rasterization. So its going to be faster than the 4080 12 gig in that. Its 25% slower in RT

Considering the spec differences between the 4080 16 and 12 gig the 7900xtx might be similar in performance with ray tracing. What's more is games that might require more than 12 gigs of graphics ram should show better performance on the 7900 cards.

Yeah but this is a reverse of what everyone was expecting, with them "disrupting" 4080, making it irrelevant and/or forcing Nvidia to lower the price.
Now it's just "not so bad" and kinda makes 4080's price valid.

Not a card I'd pay for, but not bad for 200 USD less than the 4080, the XTX is slightly faster while for 300 USD less, the XT is slightly slower making them much better value (if a card costing almost 1K USD can ever be considered a good value. For RT, it's priced about where it needs to be.

Power consumption being higher than the already high 4080 is not good though.

Will, have to see if/when AMD releases cards as they were "supposed" to be. So far, nothing this generation is worth it for me to pay for.

AMD really needs more performance in ray tracing. Which ever way they get it isn't really important but they need to be iterating quickly on that side

I didnt write about the real product, just the performance level. And even lighter raytracing will reduce the gap between both products.

Not hitting 3GHz is big problem. Leaves AMD very little room to maneuver, and very much hoping NVIDIA doesn't drop prices on the 4080.
