AMD: R7xx Speculation

Feature Test 6 in Vantage is namely the Perlin Noise redux from 3DMark'06, so 4850 matching here the 3870X2 is expected.

Well doesn't it have to go through DX10 this time around?

So I guess the drivers have been getting much better, either for Vantage or everything.

@Vantage feature test:

I am smelling 40 TMUs.

So I come back with my idea, how they get this massive ammount of units in just 260-270mm².

(If you want, see the Vec4+scalar as Vec5, 5D-Vecs or 5-Way-scalar-vector units. ;) )

W1zzard posted a time ago that rv770 has 160 ALUs, he just didnt know if its Vec3 or Vec5. So when he heard that everyone said its 480SPs, he just added 480SPs in his tool.

Does SP=Shader processor or Stream processor for you?It's important.

SP = Stream Processor

@itsmydamnation: What general directions? U mean the post of W1zzard? Its somewhere in this thread.

Well, with 800 SPs pretty much confirmed, 275mm2 die size and judging by some leaked benchmarks and 4800 series positioning compared to GF9 line, i myself am pretty sure that it'll be 16 TMUs -- 20 max -- for RV770.
I think that ATI's doing it again, guys.

HD4850 tested on vantage mark and Crysis :

DX10,800x600 56 FPS avg. :???: .

What a test... in low resolution, high instead of very high, without AA... Do they really have the card ?

If so, ATI won´t have my attention any more.

Look at the Vantage Fill Rate scores posted on last page. ;)

Imo they gone 8TF or 2x Quad-TMUs per Textur Unit, which should increase fill-rate at relative low costs.

120(+)x as much Tex Fill than a 8800GTX? With only 512MB RAM? Are 30" monitors still gonna crush this thing? Having enough juice to do fast AA is good, but not if its only on smaller monitors.

Then you're wrong. Stream Processor=ALU actually. There are X Shader Processors with 5 scalar ALUS/Stream processors per each Shader Processor. For the R600 there were 64 such Shader Processors*5 scalar ALUs per processor=320 ALUs/Stream processors(aaronspink will probably incinerate me for using the term). For the RV770 it can be anything from 96 to 160 Shader processors*5 scalar ALUs per processor=480 to 800 ALUs. Or perhaps you were considering that only 1 ALU per Shader processor can also do transcedentals (the fat-guy), and were only counting those.
