Had chance to play around with the final PS3 version.

With regards to the 3D it looks like they lied, its the same as it was previously. No wonder it is easy on the eyes, there is no real 3d going on. There are 3 layers, the hud, the weapon, and everything else. Its actually a decent effect to be honest, its just not really 3D at all. Its quite embarrassing really if you take into account their boasting about it.

As for the game overall, its much better than the demo in terms of framerate. Still not great but definately an improvement. Overall it looks great, not a fan of the overdone bloom or lenseflare but ironically i think thats pretty much what makes it standout and look so nice. IQ is still a big issue, any movement and there are crawling jaggies everywhere. I find it quite hard to make out whats going on especially anything thats at mid-long distance. I feel like the graphical style would fit much better with different gameplay, it works really well in the smaller areas and indoor environments. In the open areas it breaks down somewhat for me to the point that i find im not having much fun, its incredibly hard to see enemies at a distance and even once i do i find it hard to keep track of them due to the muzzle flash and the wierd ADS view. The other thing that stood out to me was what felt to me like significant input lag, not sure would need a proper analysis, but something isnt quite right.

Its a beautiful game and it certainly succeeds in this regard despite a few niggleing issues. Gameplay wise i didnt find myself having much fun, pecifically in the open areas. I do feel though that the graphics and gameplay dont gel too well, will try on PC i suspect at a much higher resolution i will fing certain things much less frustrating.

Dont take my negativety to heart. Im not a fan of the gameplay so overall its been a somewhat frustrating experience for me so far, but if the gameplay is to your tastes you will be in for a real treat!

The issue is its not even really an approximation of 3d. Its 3 seperate 2d layers, 2 if you take out the HUD. Its a nice effect that is an enhancement of the 2D version, but it isnt really 3d at all and isnt really a valid substitute for a proper 3d implementation. It is a shame i was looking forward to a 3D technique based on 2d + Depth, but this doesnt even attempt it. Its almost equivelent of taking a 2d game with parallax scrolling and saying it is 3d.

Not really, when not in motion it looks as clear as most games. The issue is with the AA, it breaks down and there are a lot of crawling jaggies and it seems like the TAA or motion blur is making anything at mid to long range a mess. The res obviously doesnt help but i feel like even at full 720p it wouldnt be much better.

Mmm... I don't like the custom AA solution of crytek, but more for the weakness in the motion (pratically is not AA and jaggies everywhere) than the blurriness.. I don't know if could depend even to the resolution... did you have tried the different sku version?

I dont know if its down to the AA solution but ive been doing a few tests to find out why things are breaking down in motion and ive noticed there is ghosting

I think i may have been wrong about the 3D, ive had a closer look. Seems to be a proper 2D + depth implementation now, its subtle but im pretty sure. It certainly looks better than the sum of its parts if it is still just the '3 layer' code from before. Will wait for the DF analysis.

Damn at beginning...some crazy crazy lighting there:razz:
Been playing 360 version for 5 hours no,not yet closely here.I'm taking my time and having the time of the year:lol:

There seems to be less pop in when I installed game on HDD but its still there, especially when there is alot of small objects and foliage.Frame rate is good but it will definitely dip when there is heavy action coupled with some small scale destructibility.Other than that game looks absolutely crazy.IQ/AA look great on 360 although as SR said there is some ghosting and "breaking" of AA,similar like in MLAA just it works worse.

It does work on all surfaces though and its definitely better than MP version.

Starting to have more fun now. Nano vision helps a lot and once you get a few more bits and bobs like the reflex sight and threat tracer mid-long range combat becomes much less frustrating. Still having a bit of a problem aiming, i think due to the input lag, but the heavy aim assist is helping here. I find myself using the COD trick of constantly using ADS to get my retecule to snap onto the enemy. One thing i dont like about the humans enemys is when they get up again after you've knocked them down, always annoys me in every game!

Overall its top notch. Its not quite the second coming of crist but its certainly up in the AAA category.

The PS3 isn't blurrier than MP; the 360 is just a lot cleaner in SP than it is in MP.

    I found these on GAF:

Looks good, I think? I'm pretty impressed anyway. The gameplay is very arcady obviously though (very twitchy and run and gun), but there have to be games of every type, and if you can do a fast game you can also do a slow game. I like the verticality, the ease with which you can climb up stuff, and the suit abilities all give this a bit of novelty in terms of strategy.

And I think the graphics look really good. I think this engine will have a bright future and is good competition for UE3 at the very least.

Is there any to switch off the auto-aim? I don't like it when the game aims for me.
