[360, PS3] BF:BC2 and BF 1943 online

This was just the perfect opportunity to use my $10 best buy coupon since amazon isn't giving any discounts on BC2. I knew I had to get this game when I got a 5000 pt award in the beta for playing it for 24 hours, I've spent money on full games that I didn't spend that much time in the beta of this game.

Eh? I just got an email from amazon:

Let me know if there is a language filter Robert :)

@ Tap In: How are your thoughts on the controls? Same as demo or improved as the link indicates?

No language filters. They made the aiming a little smoother, but I didn't have any problems in the first place.

I'm not noticing too big of a difference. Perhaps a little less weighty ( a lot less than BC1) and it seems refined, just slightly from demo. Something is different though as I was never able to play with the sensitivity above more than say 35% in the demo and now am close to 65% of max. (default is around 20%?)

I was not a fan the first few rounds but am now up to close to level 5 and starting to recognize where I am on the maos and feeling pretty good again.

the Thompson is a beast in close quarters and really liking Squad death match a lot more than i thought as if you get in a good squad, healing, killing, supplying, it is a blast.

One thing I don't understand is why the snowy foliage looks so poor compared to the green foliage in the game. I'm talking Xbox360 version. Is it the colour palette that's hiding the artifact that's seen on the winter foliage?

Oh, and some of the multiplayer maps are big, and very detailed. I have to say, frame rate is rock solid with a big draw distance and A LOT of stuff going on.

Yeah, the green foliage looks pretty good.

Man, I need to learn the maps. I was pretty disoriented the whole time last night.

I hope we never run into that sniper crew again. Those guys tore me a new one. The one who was my nemesis finally switched to a pistol, and he was still working me. I couldn't do a damn thing about it either. Frustrating.

I tried to out-snipe those guys for a while, which wasn't working. So I switched to assault and noob-tubed the crap out of them. Worked very well, I must say.

I still see a lot of people that haven't figured out how to take advantage of the destruction yet. I mean, if there's a guy in the second floor of a building waiting at the top of the stairs, go outside and shoot out the walls of the building.

Yeah, I need to figure out what to do in situations like that. I was basically in a die-spawn-die-spawn cycle.

There's no question those guys were good shots. I managed to flank the guy that was sitting on the right side of the bridge and take him out with grenades. Once he was gone, I had an angle to shoot at the two snipers up on the hills behind the rocks. Took them out pretty easily. Then they were never able to settle down again.

Check out the "War Tapes" audio setting. That's the most intense game audio I've ever heard. I'd be really interested in reading how the mix is different than the other mixes. Will probably check out the "War Tapes" setting on my headphones today, which should be an absolute blast.

I have to say, regardless of whatever audio mix you choose, I think this has the best game audio I've ever heard.

I occassionally got a loud "pop" sound in my speakers (left rear surround I think) last night using the "war tapes" audio mode. I'm going to try another audio mode tonight and see if it still happens.

Everytime I was doing great, I found myself disconnected last night, EA servers suck.
Still had a pretty good time mostly, except when I joined games that were 10 to 5 per side. It did give me more targets to shoot but winning the objectives in such a game are pretty much impossible.

Also, can you roadkill with an UAV in the final game? I know it's possible in the beta. I tried it on a sniper but didn't work

Yeah, the green foliage looks pretty good.
.

yep, looks great wonder why the effect is only on the snow shrubs?

also some of these maps are freaking insanely beautiful... Panama Canal, Laguna Presa, especially look sweet.

also single player rivals the graphics of any 360 game IMO.

really also enjoying all the new modes, Hardcore, Squad DM, Squad rush.... mixes it up a bit and uses variants of the maps.

Hmm, something wrong with marking enemies? If I'm not mistaken it was easier to spot enemies in Beta. I can see them in the scope but can't mark them :/.

I noticed the marking issue too. I think it is a mixture of lag and a lowered distance radius where marking works accurately. I also don't like that the medic starts out without a medic kit.

The single player start is weak compared to the first game. . .did I accidentally buy a Medal Of Honour game or something? Also the pacing between quick time events is way off and made it feel like I was constantly being interrupted for the first hour and a bit before I switched back to multi-player. And it seems like BF:BC2 may have lost some of the sandbox feel which is too bad, ranging around and blowing stuff up in the first one was a blast.

The new button configuration seems to hurt my hands more than the old one but overall MP is super fun.

IMHO of course.

Cheers
