[360] Forza Motorsport 3

about the polygons.. if it was more than 200.000, they would be promoting it you can count on that..

they wouldn't, the most detail they ever said about poly counts on forza3 was "are cars are made up of hundreds of thousands of polygons" in their newest vid of turn10's page, so that sounds like more than a couple. the next forza game (if to be on the next xbox) i'm sure they're going to say 10 times more than forza3's without getting specific. (and they could be more than a million) turn10 is one of many companies that doesn't like sharing numbers to the public (tecmo , crytech, guerrilla, ubisoft, namco, eidos, EA, most companies just don't like sharing numbers period)

even in this making of demo of alien vs predator the guy doesn't say how much max the polygons are, he just says many. (even when the poly count is so technically overwhelming)

Yes and it's seem to be made for rally fan! ;) Yeah!!!

and here the pitt pass with first screens of the track

i don't know why but i like this shot.

it's shows nice interactive self shadowing underneath the vehicle, and nice self shadowing on the tires as well as the rims.

still without receiving word of poly count i can't help to say that they look smooth.;)

A long time ago. As I already mentioned some pages back, I don't think he's going to answer.

Just because I'm sooo nice. :p

Offline only. Forgot to ask about AI the first time though. I've just posted the question, so I guess we'll see.

Speak to Che that they're made a "Big" mistake in their "casual quest" with no slip screen for online…(Damned! A other game that we can't go online in the same time with my wife). And lost a good promote function, go online with a friend come to house give him generally a purchase feeling (already work with Halo 3).

OT
Indeed I'm getting bored of the self proclamed greatness or the "we do this that, nobody elsedoes etc." coming nonetheless by great studios but falling a bit too much in the PR "fans ego flatter" lines.
This gen has started a while ago, some in the industry should let this kind of talk behind them...

are cars are made up of hundreds of thousands of polygons
That statement could be true.
But it does not specify the number of cars.
They could have meant that, in a race, the cars are made up of hundreds of thousands of polygons.
Let's say he means 900.000 polygons. divide this by Forza's 6 cars on track simultaneously; and you get 150.000 polygons per car, which would still be a lot. Plus his statement would still be true.

Oh, too bad.

Should that be interpreted as a tacit acknowledgement that they are using it? Or could he just have missed the question?

Perhaps they think that announcing use of the tesselator, would undermine their "10x the polygons of Forza 2" marketing line. As they wouldn't really be pushing 10x the polygons.

But tesselation is really is the only way for that statement to be correct though isn't it?

How else can they get an order of magnitude increase in the polycount while still running on the same hardware, still at 60 fps and boasting enhanced lighting, physics, greatly increased texture resolution (as well as the overhead their rewind system requires)?

Even PS3 sequels don't sport such huge improvements over their predecessors (eg. Uncharted 2). And the power of the PS3 is far harder to tap into than the 360.

yes that's actually possible, though I'm not entirely sure that's the case, forza2 pushed about 1 million on both cars and environments put together maybe a little bit more not sure.

i think they're just focusing on 1 car but in a general way, they as always are specific but not too much specific (yes these cars ARE 10 times more, how much......they don't explain)

and i hate taking people's words to their literal meanings, i like for a developer to rather just be open to talk about these matters.

turn10 developer: "we have over 400 cars built to this level of detail, with hundreds of thousands of polygons, huge textures, we have to go out an source each of these cars"

this is the vid the developer says that , 2:20

edit, my bad i fixed that (E2k) watch the vid.

Lol, we know it now. Either hundreds or thousands of polygons :D
edit: I know. I was just kidding.

Gold code lighting looks quite improved.

I wonder how the cars would look theoretically if you blurred the reflections and increased its intensity ever-so slightly though.

Yea, but you also have shots like this which look quite like Forza 2

They really have got the tire modelling down pat.
Pity the buildings are not as as good as PGR4, still look quite blocky
