Does it mean the weather is dynamic, or you decide what mood it is in an area by using the weather?
We decide the mood, you are right there. Everything in the weter is affected by the weather. If you drive a car the driving conditions will get worse by heavy rain (sic!:smile
than if the weather was good. In that way the weather is dynamic, that will affet how you play the game. If there is fog you will have limited view, and we control it. Something importatnt that you should remeber is that this concept is new new and special.
Many will read this and think:I haveseen lighting in games before,I haveseen dramaticlighting,I have used a flashlight. Does this mean lighting in Alan Wake is very special from what we have seen before?
- Yes and it is an element i the fight as well.
This is pretty basic question, what are you doing in this game? Most current games are about fightingor shooting. So when you are not fighting in Alan Wake what are you doing?
Let us start with the story, and who Alan Wake is. He is a famous writer, but he has a problem. He hasn´t written anything in ten years. His wife Alice takes him to the city Bright Falls. Everything goes terrible, Alice disappears and Alan must find her. He is captured between his thought, .... and night mares.Wehave many night mare elements andmany elements where you are unsure of what is what, and that give a very intresting angle of the game play. And again, I must stress the psychological aspect, but I am afraid am telling you to much.
Think about series like 24, Lost ; Prison Break, episodes en up with cliff hangers that makes you cling to your chair and wonder what will happen in the next episode. That is something we will try to achieve in Alan Wake, and we are very close. We are very happy for what we got. It has been a long process, we have been working with it for five years, and it has been mauch up and downs to find the right way to do things. Now we are happy we found the right way and the development is going very well at the moment.
There you have some more, I´ll try to find moretime later.
