Sony PlayStation 5 Pro

Seems the Pro adds a little magic to PS5 games even if they aren't Pro optimised. Black Myth Wukong shows a 10-15fps increase in demmanding scenes out of the box. I'm guessing this is maybe the extra memory bandwidth coming into play?

Something that I skimmed in the review before it got privated, is the power consumption. It's pretty much the same as the slim model. The margins on this thing, disgusting.

Guess we will know more soon enough. By opening and inspecting the unit one can determine the hardware configuration? Perhaps X-ray the board?

Not as bad as the margins on the DualSense edge. For me, it's by far the most overpriced device Sony has released this generation but I digress.

30% raw performance boost is underwhelming, its either not taking full advantage in boost mode or bandwidth limitation

A 45% uplift in gpu power doesn't equal a whole system level uplift of 45% perhaps. In strictly GPU-bound scenarios there is up to a 45% uplift in performance over the base ps5.

It's too much for any upscaler. The minimum acceptable input resolution for the upscaler should always be 1080p. That's when it starts to look acceptable.

I disagree. I commonly use DLSS performance on my 3840x1600 monitor from 2-3ft away and it generally looks excellent IMO. That's an 800p input resolution.
