We will know in the future if price cuts are permanent or not. There is no way to know. And whether they are too expensive is irrelevant. The question is whether it is good to sell them at this price. The margins might be slimmer, they might even be negative, that does not in and of itself mean they will not continue to sell at the price. The decision will be made based on the economics. And yes selling at a loss can be better than not selling at all sometimes.

pclab.pl also got confirmation from Igor Stanek (responsible for "promotion of NV products in Europe, Africa, middle-East and India) that price cuts are permanent.

Well, maybe the price-cuts are permanent, but not full-area. Only one e-shop here (Czech Republic) offered GTX460 and GTX470 for the better prices; their prices in other shops were significantly higher. The difference is smaller now, but still present. It's more or less a public secret, that the shop has some settlement with nVidia. It can be easily recognized, which price is "affected" by the settlement (ends by "..99" and which aren't (casual numbers). It seems to be quite new and effective way of marketing

That looks exactly like a GTX 470 cooler, with the more modest heatpipes which don't stick out of the shroud like the 480s. If it's really like a GF100b with more units enabled but on the same process, I guess either the cooler was improved or the TDP was brought down.
Not sure which thread this should go into, but as the first item was GTX580, ended up here.
