Heh, Wii beats both PS3 and 360 in the GTA month. I say it every month, but next gen has been won, leaving Sony and MS are battling for second place.

Whats going on is Nintendo finally saturated the more profitable Euro market though, and is now shifting those excess Wii's over here.

i call BS
here part of a press release from yesterday
Microsoft's Entertainment and Devices VP Don Mattrick said of the figures, "History has shown us that the first company to reach 10 million in console sales wins the generation battle. We are uniquely positioned to set a new benchmark for the industry.”
then again perhaps by 'new benchmark' he means getting 10million first but ending up last

Just because 360 reached 10 million first in the US, doesn't mean it outsold the Wii in April. Those statements aren't mutually exclusive or anything.

it was a joke, remember the statments a couple of years ago from MS about whoever reachs 10million first WW wins the console race.
personally i thought they would of tried to distance themselve from even saying such a thing, but here they are again repeating it again, which is only gonna come back + bite them in a couple years time.
btw
Microsoft has revealed it sold 188,000 Xbox 360s sold in April. (ps3 even worse)
WTF!!!!! 714k vs 188k (in the month the biggest game of the generation ships)
a pricecut will happen for the xbox360 very soon

Wii = Christ. What numbers and what a beat down.
360 = pathetic hardware and good software
PS3 = so much for the biggest "Playstation" Franchise.

I hope the higher ups at MS clean house in the gaming division. They completely blew a chance to move a ton of machines. Who ever thought people were going to buy a 349 dollar machine to play GTA needs to be fired. I can understand sony keeping prices up with the added expense of the blu ray drive. MS has no excuse to not of cut 50 to 100 dollars off the 360 early april to take full advantage of GTA4.

1. Wii - 714,200
2. Nintendo DS - 414,800
3. Xbox 360 - 188,000
4. PlayStation 3 - 187,000
5. PSP - 192,700
6. PlayStation 2 - 124,000

Meanwhile, April's best-selling console games in the U.S. were:

1. Grand Theft Auto IV (Rockstar, X360) - 1,850,000
2. Mario Kart Wii (Nintendo, Wii) - 1,120,000
3. Grand Theft Auto IV (Rockstar, PS3) - 1,000,000
4. Wii Play (Nintendo, Wii) - 360,000
5. Super Smash Bros. Brawl (Nintendo, Wii) - 326,000
6. Gran Turismo 5 Prologue (Polyphony Digital, PS3) - 224,000
7. Pokemon Mystery Dungeon: Explorers of Darkness (Nintendo, NDS) - 202,000
8. Pokemon Mystery Dungeon: Explorers of Time (Nintendo, NDS) - 202,000
9. Guitar Hero III: Legends of Rock (Vicarious Visions, Wii) - 152,000
10. Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare (Infinity Ward, X360) - 141,000

What a suprise, the Wii outsold the Xbox 360 again in the United States! Even with GTA IV, arguably the best game this generation so far, and the sequel to the biggest franchise last gen the HD consoles are unable to keep up with the Wii. It does not really bother me, as long as the same quantity, and quality of third party games keep getting released for the Xbox 360 the Wii can outsell it all it wants.

If the Wii would have had the same unique motion based interface, and HD graphics it would be slaughtering the X360/PS3 both in terms of sales, and quality of games released. Right now though, it seems the vast majority of games are sub-par, leaving only a handful of Nintendo developed games worth owning.
