PGR4: New Snow on the Ring trailer

is it just me or are bizzares bikes more impressive to look at in terms of modelling than climax's?

They indeed look better. Keep in mind that MotoGP is supposed to run at 60 fps and has 20 bikes during race not 8.

Im not talking about photomode im talking about the most important aspect of the game, the GAMEPLY. PGR3 looked better in photomode, native 720p rendered and gobs of AF and AA that WERE NOT in the gameplay graphics. So if these PGR4 shots are from phtomode, which according to you they are because of the camera angles then there is a very big chance that like PGR3 the gameplay graphics in the final PGR4 wont look anything like they do in photomode. So PGR4 wont look like the released shots.

They should show gameplay ss instead as that would be more like what it will look onscreen. The same goes for GT:HD which also has better graphics in replay mode that runs at 30fps.
And since almost every single screenshot or video are from replays in GT:HD one is fooled about the graphics looking better than ingame play as I learned when I downloaded the 'demo'.

I think the reason that you get 30fps in the replay mode is because you simply often see a lot more of the track, and the game hasn't been optimised as much for those positions yet.

There is an excuse for everything yes? ;)

Arwin;1028300]Really? Can you tell me what exactly is different from the replay mode vs the in game mode, other than the camera position? I think the reason that you get 30fps in the replay mode is because you simply often see a lot more of the track, and the game hasn't been optimised as much for those positions yet.

Below: Look in the GT:HD thread, I have pointed out some differences in there in a post, digg it up. Back to topic now! ;)

To get back on topic, I don't see anything extraordinary in these screenshots really. I think this is pretty much how the game should look, hopefully a little bit better even. I like how round the tires are though!

Well, it has motion blur in replay?

I've never noticed it if there is.

GT:HD looks exactly the same to me in replay mode as it does "in game".

In fact the only difference I noticed was replays have a terrible framerate and are fairly jerky where as the "in game" runs smooth as a babys bum.

You never noticed motion blur in GTHD replays?

What you call this then?

I find it fascinating, that people who are able to point out stuff like 60fps vs 30fps, amount of AA, HDR and other stuff, arent able to notice that their favorite game has motion blur in replays.

Perfectly worded IMHO.

There are also other things in GT:HD by the way of which you'd normally not see all that much in any of the racing viewpoints, but it is there anyway. I really like for instance the self-shadowing on the drivers ... if you pick a rally car you'll find there are two drivers in the car, that are also looking around independently in a way that suits rally drivers, very nicely done. And the real-time shadows on the interior of the car affects them very nicely. The lighting is very, very good imho. A good way to showcase it is by looking from in front of your car while driving (you can in gameplay mode, if you take the behind the car view and then use the look back button)

The camera angles are already so not in-game that I don't know why any of y'all bother fussing about how real time they are.

Too, given how pictures and video will be uploaded and viewed like YouTube, it's actually reasonable for Bizarre to show this quality of footage. It's a big part of the game. They should also show literal in-game, driving shots too, but it's not like with past games.

SOLD!!!!!!!!!! ridiculous! If they do a good job of physics on bikes (unlike the MotoGP 06!) I'll play this till my fingers fall off :(

PHOTOMODE Robert, slim chance of GAMEPLAY graphics looking like that. We have been talking about in the last few pages how developers of racing games use photomode or replay screen shots and try to pass them off as gameplay shots. IMHO i would'nt get your hopes up and start dribbling just yet :)

Bikes and cars together, nice approach for what looks like an excellent Arcade game (if they deliver a similar experience to PGR2). IRL they fight like rival siblings but they share the same elements, just with a slightly different attitude and execution.

In my view, the bikes add originality to the series and I must add that featuring these vehicles is a VERY intelligent way to merge all auto and bikes fans in one game. Bikes vs cars in tracks like Nurburgring makes sense, for instance.

I remember playing PGR3 with people who used to almost exclusively play MotoGP 06. I added them to my friends list and while I've never been an PGR3 avid player because I didn't like it that much (PGR2 was way superior, imho) I did not play with them ever since.

Currently I have a XBL Gold account until March 2008 but, as it is, I seldom play online these days and I don't know if they are still playing PGR3 or not, but I'm pretty sure it was a fortunate coincidence so in my opinion it's a plus.

Finally, I do hope they have studied collisions carefully because the bikes have a huge disadvantage here. The normal behaviour should be leaving the bikes alone, not disturbing them. We need clean racers for that to work, though.

In terms of opportunities for graphical embellishments, Photomode >>> 30fps Replays > 60fps Gameplay. So, replay screenshots tend to be much less misleading about the gameplay graphics than photomode screenshots.

Really depends if the replay uses motion-blur which hides the sorroundings and objects and makes it pretty much impossible to tell wether it is high detail or low detail stuff or even sprites ("cardboard").

Perhaps they will release some ingame ss soon. And I hope they do the same for GT5 since the supposed GT5 video was a replay with added effects (motion-blur and who knows what more added/replay uppgraded).

Michelin Test Track

I'd rather prefer Top Gear Test Track (it'd be jewel in Forza 2, for instance) than Michelin Test Track but well, it's a very original inclusion so it's ok for me. I miss Edinburgh:cry: , though

As for the cars' list, taking into consideration the addition of the De Lorean it looks like there're going to be more car classes and not just supercars. Seems to me that they are going to be grouped by everyday cars and fun cars. Now the great thing is that everyday cars are can be also fun and I missed them in PGR3.

Btw, Bizarre has released new pics from his little gem of a game (I hope so, didn't like PGR3 that much):

This one has great textures

Not ONE of those screens is from gameplay

um proof that it won't look like that outside of a slight downgrade in AA to 4x? afaik, devs have said that photmode is not yet implemented, at least up until this batch of SS's. give me a link saying these are photomode? I agree that AA has been tweaked, but photomode (at least as seen in PGR3) would indicate an improved light model. motion blur could very easily be in game.
