Sorry. I somehow thought you were referring to competing SoCs which tend to be dual channel.I don't know if it's inherently faster but I doubt it's inherently slower.
Nonetheless, I don't understand your question.
The Transformer Prime (TF201), the only Tegra 3 implementation in the market so far, is using a single-channel 32-bit LPDDR2 @ 1066MHz. Asus TF301 will use 32bit single-channel DDR3L @ 1500MHz.
So it may get a bit faster on GPU-intensive applications.
why are we mentioning only single channel lpddr3 for A5X?? am i missing something?
We're not, they're talking about Tegra 3 there. The A5X has a 2 × 32-bits memory controller as far as we know.
Aaaaaaand... we're off!french toast said:Well what a let down.. am i the only one left a bit bemused by this? no siri?? thicker?? yes a nice resolution bump..but seeing as that was rumoured for the ipad 2 that was to be expected... the graphics jump seems nice..im guessing duel core A9's @1.2 -1.5ghz... why are we mentioning only single channel lpddr3 for A5X?? am i missing something?
I don't see why.fehu said:the gpu will need all the power in the world just to drive that pr resolution

For many (including me), the resolution increase alone is sufficient for this to be one of the biggest technology upgrades since the iPhone 4 was introduced almost 2 years ago. Think about it: more than any laptop that's currently on the market. And higher than 99% of all the monitors out there. Isn't that just amazing?
Exciting times...
Then again, what difference will you be able to tell between the army of 10.1" tablets with FullHD screens and that 9" 2048*1536?
Amazingly, none.
The only reason for that stupidly high resolution is the fact that Apple is afraid of even trying to implement a decent scaler.
Otherwise, 1600*1200 would have been just as great, without the fact that they now lack the huge bandwidth required for feeding that screen at its native resolution.
So yeah, it's just this one thing for all the fans to brag about the device while everything else gets easily surpassed.
But you won't be able to see a dead subpixel since it's so small!I bet that the screens will have dead pixels like no other.
