It's no problem, so sorry i was slow to reply very busy i am at times. I own the trilogy of metroid prime plus other M and i can say the franchise is a very good technical benchmark to use to represent the game cube and Wii. The next Metroid game is sure to use the wii-u to it's best of capabilities. :smile2:

Thanks. The polygon models in Sonic Generations are even higher than I expected, especially for Eggman.

Have you posted some polygon counts for SSB Brawl? After seeing the surprising info about Other M and MP3, Im curious on how the models in that game compare.

Indeed, one of the rare examples where 'simple' tesselation would be feasible.

In sonic generations's case, sonic and Eggman; These particular models were reused from Sonic Unleashed.

    same ones... http://eggmanchaos.files.wordpress.com/2008/11/ingameunleashed.jpg
    http://assets1.ignimgs.com/2008/11/20/sonic-unleashed-20081120013159376-2655064.jpg

they probably didn't like chopping away the pretty art direction they had established years ago. In any case it goes well with all the "pixar" like animations they like doing with the models. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=g0dYBJcgK9Q

    Got some of them,

Polygon numbers for Super Smash Bros Brawl

Super Smash Bros Brawl - Donkey 4,758 polygons
Super Smash Bros Brawl - Samus (Zerosuit) 5,089 polygons
Super Smash Bros Brawl - Snake 5,149 polygons
Super Smash Bros Brawl - Mario 5,227 polygons
Super Smash Bros Brawl - Luigi 5,632 polygons
Super Smash Bros Brawl - Wario 5,762 polygons
Super Smash Bros Brawl - Marth 6,249 polygons
Super Smash Bros Brawl - Peach 6,316 polygons

and i'll throw in these two as well

Resident Evil 6 - Sherry Birkin 15,620 polygons, 7,172 polys for the whole head.
Sonic Unleashed - Sonic (Werehog) 19,314 polygons. (without Fur)

For the Wii i got Resident Evil "Umbrella" and "Darkside Chronicles" covered in my next wave.

that's it for now, till next time.

Wow, that was alot more info than what I was expecting for the details behind the Sonic models. Thanks. As I expected, the polygon counts for SSB Brawl are around the same range as the ones seen in the previous console generation, but with very good texture work.

Looking forward to your info about the RE Wii games. Happy New Year.

Edit: I shouldn't be surprised, but I thought it was funny on how many polygons was used on Zero Suit Samus' chest compared to her others parts besides her head.

yeah, well over in japan It's not unusual for a lot of female characters to get complimentary work on them.

    thanks, and it's no problem!

oh and to all, Happy new year as well!

    --------------------

Polygon Numbers For Resident Evil: Darkside Chronicles

Bullet Witch - Maxwell Cougar 16,250 polygons
Bullet Witch - Sky Serpent Boss 90,912 polygons

Ah, Bullet witch; Great art and decent story marred by quite a few graphical issues. the UT3 engine right now could have totally turned the game around.

.........now if only they could have given their beasts names. what help that would have been for me to label them.

The poly numbers for "umbrella Chronicles" will be covered in my next wave as I'm still going over all of them.

that's it for now folks, till next time.:smile2:

I figured that Darkside Chronicles' character models were relatively high for the Wii. It was a nice looking game and was good for what it was. It was just unfortunate that it was not the type of game desired from Capcom.

All of the comments made my day. ......I've always wondered why the disengaged AA and cutbacks on the environments. but the sad thing we see here is actually nothing that normal mapping couldn't have done, and that is what the game lacked. I would have been very happy with 20 to 25k (max) characters with some good multi-sampling and pretty vistas. It may have high LOD characters but it fails in a few areas of being complete like a lot of other fighting games.

that being said, a lot of the polygons (might i remind everyone) were used in the tracing design of the elbow/shin guards and the outline of the suit.

they show up in the mesh because they actually protrude the leather outfit. wire mesh outlines will usually show everything, even if it's a quarter of an inch outward or inward.

    Polygon numbers for assorted games.

Castlevania lords of shadow - Cornell 19,031 polygons
Castlevania lords of shadow - Black knight 21,718 polygons
Gears of war 3 - Clay Carmine 18,444 polygons
Gears of war 3 - Anya Stroud (COG outfit) 24,144 polygons
Gears of war 3 - Anya Stroud (Gears 2 outfit) 25,370 polygons

kinda liked the rosie cheeks Gears 2 Anya face better.<3<3<3

All versions of Anya look mostly terrifying to me ;)

I dunno, female characters are pretty hard to get right in CG too...

wwwell, no women is really perfect, but i do agree that the gears of war 1's model was rubbish [IMG]

it just didn't make any sense, compared to the rest of the game she really did stick out.

yeah, funny how Anya looked better in the super highrez LOD over Samantha; and then switched for in game.

they should cut back on the usage of mapping on the female's faces. it makes em look like guys.

Kratos's number is listed on the start of this thread. 22,000 polygons but the link is dead.

the people that do the extracting of the models i use have that game and the uncharted franchise black listed.........along with a bunch of other ps3 titles. they're black listed because of ps3's file system. a lot of the people that tried got lost in the sea of files and non applicable formats, plus there's no money in it.

funny how Nariko from heavenly sword made it, i guess that person had strong determination.

    Polygon numbers for 2 games.

Resident Evil 6 - Chris Redfield 22,240 polygons
Mass Effect 3 - Miranda 18,944 polygons, 9,378 polys for whole head
Mass Effect 3 - Shepard (male, N7 Defender Armor) 25,440 polygons

that all for today, till next time.:smile2:

I am quite surprised by the low poly numbers in Final Fantasy 13. Art truly did an amazing work in that game
Do they use various LOD models like they did in Final Fantasy X?
