Xbox One Slim

Currently there are UHD BluRay Players on Amazon that are around $330 - $350 price range, so one that can play X360 and XBox One Games for $299 is a good deal.

Exactly. One of my initial concerns about the Xbox One was its original internet centric identity. This is a game changer for me.

Buy a UHD BRD player! And get a free console!

Worthless for me, however. I haven't purchased an optical disk of any description for almost 10 years now.

That's correct. New hardware tech every 4 years or so as innovation in that space makes sense, continually maintaining a 2-3 console overlap in forward compatibility support for games, os, etc. And you'd assume back compat covers more generations. Pretty much just like every mobile and PC platform in the world today.

If MS could get xbox bc included they could have their complete line up avalible through the generations esp if they continue going amd. That would be very compelling being able to buy games dd or physical and keeping them through the generations

I was thinking $499 max but it sounds like they are going to "tier" these consoles. I think that may give them more flexibility on pricing than the traditional console generation.

If its going to use a rift or vive then I think $500 is the limit. $500 + $600 for the rift + touch ? your over $1100 before touch .

It is a good deal for the approximately 4 people in the known universe that want a UHD Bluray. Seriously, what sort of luddite do you have to be to want a physical video medium?

I really liked Deadpool and decided to buy it on bluray. I had 2 options . $25 for the bluray + dvd + DD which is par for the course or $25 for the 4k bluray + bluray + dd . So I chose the 4k option lol

Maybe they're confusing XBox One S and XBox One Scorpio ?

Boffin dude needs apologies. Sort of.

if its anything its just a higher clock speed due to the process drop. If ms stuffed a new gpu in there they would have talked about it. But even another 50mhz or a 100mhz on the gpu can be a big gain in some games

Well, it begins. Iterative consoles opened this can of worms...how is this any different than the proposed Neo (leaving aside Scorpio as it seems more like a new gen possibly) other than degree and timing?

What the hey, for 299 and with Gamestop giving me some trade in on my old One or whatever, just another reason to get one.

From a technical perspective be really interesting what the changes exactly are. Almost assuredly more clocks but, could they have enabled the redundant CU's as well?

The most annoying thing about Slim is...available in August I read? Yuck, that's like, 8 weeks, or more. It's freakin eternity. WTF Microsoft. I'd pick one up quick if I could. I guess thats was why there were no blurrycam chinese manufacturing line leaks though, I'd been wondering.

It's sounds like it could be quite marginal. But Rod Ferguson does mention that's it's both the CPU and GPU that have increased.

I'm guessing it could be something like extra 100MHz on CPU and extra 50MHz on GPU...

If the S has a a bit more hp bump due to speed increases in cpu and/or gpu, I will get it. Along with UHD blu ray player it's great for $300
