When such a crazy DRM scheme is used, region locking can become strongly enforced.

Why would I want to live there?

But seriously, how many people have ever been in Portugal for more than 24 hours? Even if you were accidentally in Portugal for more than 24 hours due to an outage of other countries, you could just log in when other countries came on line the next day.

It's not even a problem. I doubt Portugal even happens to people these days. Anyone posting on a gaming forum has no right to complain because obviously they don't have problems with being in Portugal.

Got $60 for a game? Then obviously you could afford to not live in Portugal, and you should spend your money on better things than games, like not living in Portugal.

To be honest, I doubt Portugal even exists. No way Portugal exists in the 21st century. It's all a storm in a teacup.

Here's a map of the known Universe, this is where the PS4 works for your single player games. I heard there's no region locking in Alpha Centauri either.
Be sure to bring enough batteries in your spaceship.

Fantastic future oriented changes whose benefits will be realized as more computing moves to tablet and cloud. is the transition painful, hell yeah.

You must be joking. MS designed an OS optimized for touch, while 99% of their userbase uses a Mouse, and you point to this as an example of a good move?

it's typical Microsoft hubris, and being completely out of touch with reality. They think that they can just shove things down consumers throats, and we'll just accept it cause they're Microsoft.

XBOne is a similar strategy to Windows 8. This isn't what people want, we KNOW it's not what people want, but we know better, so we're going to do it anyways.

I think Microsoft should have left the traditional disk market like it is with this gen.
And transition people over to digital only by copying steam. With yeah you lose the ability to share a game. But we can offer games cheaper as digital copies you know kinda the steam sales. You can share your digital copies with a friend and both play the game at the same time. I believe they have this policy not sure what the trap is ars technica reported on this policy.

Because im ready to go full digital hate all the clutter i can store and hide 20 game cases but im pretty sure i will get a shitload more games with next gen console because i have more money to burn compared to 7 years ago. And transition into this vision they have of the world in 5~7 years.

Now the next exit is their end goal and the change is just to much. And their PR is a nightmare so far. Really sad to see them fail PR like this. Could have saved themselves a lot of trouble if they brought differently all they point out to now is what gamers loose instantly instead of doing it more gradually.

And make a cheap non kinect sku please don't like kinect invading my privacy.

With every new announcement it seems like they are deliberately trying to sell as few consoles as they can. But they're more or less forced to because of authentication rules and network infrastructure.

I can't understand why Xbox One is too restrictive.

I think they will try to make you stick to their eco system.
And have backward compatibility because of x86?
Kinda like on mobiles if you spend $100+ on app on one eco system chances are you will when you buy your next mobile choose again for the eco system.

Microsoft is launching in countries where they can expect console owners to spend the most on games and media content. They want to make massive profits in this gen and they are clearly confident in their product, so they're not making any trade offs just to push sales.

Also, people complaining about Kinect - do you have a webcam in your PC or your notebook? A front facing camera in your tablet or phone?

Thought so.

Imo the DRM talk, while I dislike them, is the tree hiding the forest, there is no longer free MP gaming in the console world (Nintendo aside) and nobody react to it on the web. I actually expect real people to react to that.

Because, in 2013, no one gives a shit about paying $5/month for a quality service. End of story. And no amount of kicking and screaming will make anyone actually care. It's $5, and we live in the age of digital subscriptions.

Also, it's worth noting that PSN+ is actually providing real value, by giving you free NEW titles. MS is just giving you old garbage you don't want to play anyways... I was so excited when MS first announced their program for free titles, until I realized they were all old. Then Sony turned around and did it right.

Kudos to Sony.

I see a clear difference here: One company is hungry and aggressive, the other is cocky and complacent. Their value propositions, and everything they're doing reflect those differences in mindset. This is Sony 2005, all over again.

All the countries in gray will be PS4 only...

I think MS knows something. It's known that Bilderberg, NWO, etc, have their plans to consolidate the world into a few nations. And when that happens in the near future, the whole world will gain access automatically. So why bother setting up so many countries now?

:LOL::LOL:

I find this one funny and a PR disaster too
:smile: Francis has replied to Don Mattrick -Mattrick is like me irl, pretending is not something inborn for him and he seems like one of those people who couldn't convince anyone if they decided to lie because people would notice-

I dont own a webcam and i can disable the one in my laptop and the laptop still works.
It is all about options and consumer choice.

People complained about privacy then they come with a pseudo form of privacy(disable functions but its still on to listen to you). While they could have said yeah oke we get the message you want your privacy. So you can disconnect kinect if you don't want to use it outside of the few games you're interested in.
And if they get rid of the mandatory kinect. They could reveal on gamescom a cheaper kinect less sku to compete with ps4.

I can also tell if my webcam is spying on me by simply looking at the LED light next to it. I can also stop it through hardware devices and "hard disconnect" it from everything else if I like. Neither of which I expect I can do with Kinect as it still listens to the "Xbox on" command which you apparently cannot turn off.
