XBox-mini citing at Bioware's invite only area.

Unforunately, I did not see it personally, but my good friend I went to the show with did. He was asking for a certain poster and they took him into the invite only area to get it for him. He followed in. And there, he saw a miniature XBox (about 1/3 the size of the current version), running Jade Emprie demo. It had the DVD drive in the middle of the face instead of the left side, and still had 4 ports, and styling resembled the current one. It looked "ready to be put on the shelf" according to him. They rushed him and his friends back out with the poster, but he was absolutely positive about what he saw.

Later We were at the Tecmo booth talking to a marketing honcho we know there and we mentioned it to him and his reaction was "we didn't get our's yet!" instead of "really! I didn't know such thing existed". Apprently he was already expecting theirs.

Hehe, neat. Consider this: A guy that works at Microsoft game studios and posts at GAF under name Oxygen has firmly denied (denied not being quiet like he always is when he wants to hide something) the existence of mini Xbox. Anyways, if it's the same styling that's disappointing to me.

A mini xbox would be a neat addition to the xbox family for chrismas I would say.

Lets wait until X04 and we may see more on this subject.

I'm sure MS has something ready to counter PSTwo.. the only thing is that I expect Xbox Mini would have HIGHER costs to manufacture rather than lower as with PSTwo. Hmmm..

Why's that?
Xbox mini was probably possible from the start, I just hope nothing gets cut like what normally happens when systems go mini.

1/3 of the size? Surely that'd need a 2.5" drive. I hope they shrunk that ugly controller as well :D

Interesting. Aren't there hard drives coming from Toshiba and Hitachi that are the size of a quarter and hold 4GB? One wonders why they don't use one of those in the next XBox in order to keep size and costs down.

Or maybe and XBox portable. XBP? :)

Because those little HDDs cost more. Even 2.5" laptop HDDs cost more than standard 3.5" HDDs. Laptops use 2.5" HDDs because they have to have a low profile and be light. A 3.5" HDD does not take up that much space if it was properly designed into a console. Xbox 2 doesn't have to be tiny, thin, or light, just compact.

Yeah, those mini drives would be great for a small console or handheld, though the price might be a bit too much right now.

To make the current Xbox smaller MS could move the PSU out of the case like Nintendo does with the GC.

Defintely like the idea of an unpdated Xbox
Rumors have mentioned before.

But what about this...

Bioware is a member of XNA and are working on Xbox2 Developments.

Is it possible that what your feind saw was a mock up of Xbox 2?

I believe there are 8 and 10GB drives, but officialy 8GB.

I think XBoxes use 8 gig even though the newer ones actually contain 20gig HDs (no one makes 8 gig ones apparently). Just what I read over at a mod forum anyhow.

The 20GB HDDs are probably cheaper too...supply & demand. Wouldn't it be funny if Xbox Mini ends up being cheaper than Xbox while having a bigger HDD?
