How often can I use the tool?
The tool can only be used once every twelve months.

Why can I use the tool only once per twelve months?
The tool is intended to allow consumers to consolidate their licenses they purchased on multiple consoles to a primary console. It is not intended to continually move content between multiple consoles.

and you have to redownload your contents, note only redownload, no need to delete them.

The re-download is just the license, correct? You're not actually downloading the entire file.

Would have been nice if you could just batch the downloads instead of queuing them up one by one. If they're going to do something good, they might as well do it right. Although I'm sure it would only be a nuisance for NavNuc

yes, only the license.

for example, i have Sonic on my HDD, to unlock it all i need to do is go to either my download history or games --> arcade --> sonic and redownload.

since sonic is already on my hdd it will be fast, 3 sec max.

MS should add a XBLA tab in the download history to make it faster.

Neato. I don't have a use for this right now, but if I did it's great to know that I can transfer my licenses(all 688 of them) to a new console. I saw some complaints about the 12 month limit on MajorNelson, but he stated for those that Xbox systems that have to be replaced that customer service will do this for you and it won't count against your time. Only other complaint is that for those like myself with lots of downloaded content, it could be a PITA to have to redownload every piece of content. Only saving grace is that if the content is already physically on the hard drive then it only redownloads the license and not the whole file.

Anyway, about time Microsoft fixed this problem. It's been 2yrs 7mos too long. LOL

P.S. Make sure to watch any rented movies you have first before you do this. Evidently the transfer doesn't work on them.

Organizing the Download History by types of content would be great. Hopefully that happens in the Fall Update. But I think if you go to the XBLA game in the Games Library you can redownload it again too.

and yeah, if your 360 rrod and you sent it to MS they will automatically transfer your licenses for you.

only problem is if you want to buy a new one.
