xbox 360 confirmed pricing

$50 VGA cable
$400 console (HDD, Live Gold, Headset, etc... no point getting the $300 SKU, paying $50 for Live Gold and the other accessories separately)
$60 game

$510

I cannot afford that!

Uh. The $400 'premium' package does NOT include Live Gold. Check the press release.

Why has MS lied to us. Check this quote out.

DEN: Which almost seems a step backwards. If you’ve got 4 player support, why are there not 4 controller ports?

Bach: Well, predominantly, because the base SKU we’re shipping here is going to be wireless, and if you want to have 4 players, people will be able to get splitters, just like you can on a PS2 and play 4 players. It is just one of those things where you have to decide what you’re going to optimize for, and for us, we think wireless… there will still be people who will want to use wired, which is why we’ll supply one, but we think wireless is going to be the direction of the future.

DEN: And so the pack-in is going to be wireless?

Bach: Yes.

I hope tat UE3 (powered?) games do not drop the voice comands/features/... becauses of not being standart.

it wasn't standard this gen and all live games and some single player games used it, some games might come with a headset like rainbow six did, and they will probably have the $60 live package like this time, you'll get the headset and a crappy game or something, or you can just get the $50 card

I'm upset about the harddrive also but I can understand there reasoning which is pretty good I would have still rather seen a wireless controller at least

but the way they have gone makes me think about the rumors of 3 versions of the 360 that was going aroung before, and the third system is the one with the hd-dvd drive and have extra media features

PARANOiA,

I'm guessing the AUD pricing will be in line with the Euro pricing. So that would make the useful(premium) bundle around $650 AUD. 399 Euro = 644 AUD according to xe.com at the moment.

So my guesses $120 games, $150HDD, $80 wireless controllers etc yipeee

Jesus that's a lot. With the $AU being ~$US0.75, importing sounds like a much better idea. Guess I'll wait for something official.

Disappointing to say the least.

Im not sure how many of you went to E3 but I will tell you this. The impretion MS gave you with whatever form the Xbox 360 would be was next gen. When you take the core package at face value what are you left with? A wired controller (which I think we were told that no wires but wireless period) No HD? (show me a picture showing the xbox 360 running games without it. Even ElderScrolls was saying it was needed and MS emphasized for LIVE content and use) No High Def cables standard (720p will be the minimum???)

I think my biggest complaint (and most peoples from the forums I have browsed) would be the lack of a HD. The rest of the $299 core package I could probably live with but no HD? I think MS just nutured there system by saying that the HD was not necessary for games. They pushed the HD for LIVE content downloads, microtransactions etc. when did this change? Sure they could use them but not necessary? Again referring about the way MS portrayed the 360 at E3. To me MS really "mislead" (being nice here) consumers at the very least and shot themselves in the foot with their statements about the HD. At E3 they made it as having not only Powerhouse of a console but with Xbox Live along an online advantage (outlining the use of HD at its center) Sony would have trouble competing with. They just diminished that advantage if it was there.

Lets not forget the preordering either. MS should of released this info before any preorders were taken. Even the manager at the local gamestore says they are in a difficult position because they have no idea on how it plays to the customer on which system to offer and will they be able to meet them now? Not to mention he has already had a "backlash for refunds" already. (Well that part I might be ok with least Ill get the premium :) )

Now I know things change but MS right now IMO needs to FOCUS. and not splinter the system and that looks to be what they have done with this move. No wonder Sony spoke about a 2007 launch. If I was Sony looking at this right now I would be smiling ear to ear. Like many have said yes $399 package is not a bad deal but MS should of never discounted the HD and upped the core package to $299-$350 with HD and a wirless controller. The way MS managed this whole pricing, marketing, and packaging situation it might end up backfiring and if it does they wont have time to make up for it before the PS3 hits the market.

In the end I guess it boils down to will I buy the Xbox 360? Yes. Preimum package lol But some people feel really burned by this. Browse the numerous forums and you will see.

But if MS ever says anything about Sony and their marketing strategy I will just have to remind them well at least they didnt lead us on while preorders were taken and Sony warned us of a possible higher price and no HD but Im sure they wont offer an option Without a BR drive.

The only people who are really upset are those who talked themselves into believing everything would come in a box for $299. That was ALL speculation.

Wha? E3 360 specs clearly listed a 20G HDD. By comparison, Sony's specs listed only a HDD port.

MS also touted wireless controllers to the point where lots of people (who preferred wired for whatever reason) were concerned that wired might not even be an option. Not until the peripheral list was released a while back did we even know wired controllers would be offered.

Allard and Moore 'confirmed' offering only a single SKU at launch.

Allard said in an interview that the 360 would be "in the neighborhood" of $299.

Take all this together and what were we supposed to think? I took it to mean I'd be able to pick up a 360 with HDD and wireless controller for $299-$349. Maybe $360 if they wanted to be cute.

The higher price, multiple SKUs, non-ubiquitous HDD, and ridiculous peripheral pricing are what have people up in arms. It's not just one single thing.

Yes a few games had but did it worth, did they gave any new gameplay, complex tatics or anything. NO.

Now see this http://www.1up.com/do/feature?pager.offset=2&cId=3140119 , it would make the game very different, but now I doubt they will make things like this, and that is what I understand for next gen.

Ye they did not put in the official spec memory cards , nor whells and light guns, nor the others periphecals, if it as there it should be in every version, if not they can take of a core and said that there are never confirmed that al versions would have it 3.

That doesn't mean anything, until we hear a confirmation from Sony, Amazon is specualting at best.

Anyways, did you read the description for the PS3 controller?

"The controllers feature PlayStation's signature square-circle-triangle-X buttons, but they sport a never-before-seen, boomerang-like design."

"A comfy-looking new controller. "

:p

Possibilities

My thoughts on why this happened and how it might all turn out:

1. Maybe $399 is a necessity for whatever reason (e.g. the machine as a whole is just so expensive that they have no choice) and MS is using the $299 SKU plus peripheral pricing to make the $399 price look good. $399 will stick.

2. They're just feeling out reactions and the price is really fluid -- they have some wiggle room. With the outcry, they may drop the premium price down to $349 or $360 and possibly do away with the 'Core' SKU altogether.

3. Sony's talk of a high PS3 price changed MS's mind, so they figure they can charge a higher price than planned and not lose as much cash early in the game.

4. The 360 production capacity is more restrained than MS thought, so they introducing a higher than planned price to reduce demand slightly and reap greater revenues in the process. Once production ramps up (ideally around the time of the PS3 launch) the price will drop a bit.

Just some wild speculation.

Alot of people hope that #2 in your list comes to fruition, including me. :p

Just a little info for anyone with reserves at gamestop .

Nothing is offical we are having a confrence call in the morning about what to do . However The most likely plan is this .

They will call up and explain the packages to the preorders . It will go from those who ordered first to the last . You can pick which one u want . If however the version u want is sold out u will have to wait longer . If you switch to the 300$ unit and its sold out and all the 400$ version preorders were filled and we geta shipment of 400$ units in you can switch and it iwll be offered to the oldest reserve first .

Just letting u guys know whatsu p

To be honest, I don't know what you just said. But if you're arguing against my points, just refer to the quote someone linked to above where Bach indicated the base model would have a wireless controller. I don't think anything that was inferred was unreasonable.

BOTH packages will have 30 day trial of Live Gold. But you are correct, neither have it standard.

Actually I has tryng to reforce your point, once that they do not post others periphericals on the official specs everything that it is there should be standart on the console.
Sorry I am bit tired and I has wrintig fast so I wrote a mess up there  .
