Call of Duty continue to be a sales leader despite GRAW being available at launch. Congratulations to Infinity Ward.

Excellent performance, though I can't say it was unexpected. We saw the same kind of performance from the delayed PSP launch in the UK. The snowballing demand, increasing market exposure, and higher caliber launch titles just end up leaving everything else in the dust.

Eh, the tie-ratio was 'only' 2.6.

The launch was the best ever with 30k units sold (MS said they had >40k preorders so who knows what happened there?). Although pretty much every launch has beaten the previous best launch for the last 5 times (PSP was 27k -previous record, DS was 19k -record before PSP etc.).

So yeah, 2.6*30k = 78k sales gives 9/10. Based off of that you can tell that software sales in Australia...aren't too flash. For the week the PSP launched it looked quite similar.

Edit; Heres the PSP launch week:
Code:
TW	LW	Title	Publisher	Formats
1	-	Need for Speed Underground Rivals	EA	PSP
2	-	Ridge Racer	Namco	PSP
3	-	Untold Legends	Sony	PSP
4	-	V8 Supercars 2	Atari	PSP
5	-	MediEvil Resurrection	Sony	PSP
6	-	Wipeout Pure	Sony	PSP
7	-	Metal Gear Ac!d	Atari	PSP
8	-	Tony Hawk Underground 2 Remix	Activision	PSP
9	1	Pokémon Emerald	Nintendo	GBA
10	-	Ape Academy	Sony	PSP
9/10 as well.

Still, its a great start 'for Australia'.

My friend got an X360 with CoD and PGR3. CoD is a great game and deserves all the sales it gets. PGR3 is alright but I was surprised at how 'jaggy' it was. Game plays smooth though.

I wouldn't be surprised if the sales here in NZ were similar (same launch day).
Every time I go into a local store that sells consoles, the 360 area is teeming with people, whereas the other areas such as PSP, xbox1, PC, etc are completly empty. Only natural of course.

However I'd expect MS put a lot more money (by population) into australia. Their TV campaign here was quite cool (floating people!), but hardly saturation.

Interestingly there are very, very few consoles avaliable on online auction sites here, and those that do show up often sell for ~$20 below their actual value (I count 6 in total since the launch, including 3 currently for sale). Normally after a release like this there is a flood of brand new or barly used consoles.

That top 3 is pretty much the 3 I'd buy, when I finally get round to picking the console up :p

The xbox1 was very succesfull in Australia anyway.
Yep! Something like 1/2 the PS2 sales which is the most successful by region IIRC (NA was 1/3, Europe 1/6 or so). I actually know more people with Xboxen than PS2 (I have all 3 personally). A good by-product of the X360 launch is Xbox software prices have plummeted (and PS2 to a lesser degree).

Isn't MS like the only company that's even trying in Australia? An Aussie on the Nintendorks forums said they're lucky if the game store ever even sees a Nintendo rep, and Cube/GBA games (it was pre-DS) are released there months and months late...if at all. Seems like there's a sizable untapped market there that MS intends to fully own.

Or in other words, where do you think more people are more likely to stay indoors playing computers games instead of being outside on the beach, Icy Finland or Sunny Australias? :D

I don't know that it's fair to say MS are trying harder. It's not they're not releasing everything months late to Australis too. Downloadable content should be different and end all that. All three platforms should hopefully be providing the same content worldwide simultaneously (if it's not region locked).

20 million is less then 2 small european countries. belgium and the Netherlands count up to 23 mil more or less.
one way you see it is YES they sell a lot and their xbox360 is really a succes etc...
but in perspective to the rest of the world or better, continents , it doesnt say alot
