Wii Ware info.

I don't think these short little games like Lost Wind are competing directly with full games. Even if they are a one time play through at 3 hours with presumably no replay value, IMO it still doesn't compare well value wise to a full game for $50.
I actually think that these games are competing with more impulse buys like a DVD rentals or an older DVD purchase. Things like that.

Yeah, but Wii 3rd party games blow huge chunks. Many of the 3rd party games aren't even worth $50.

Putting aside the subjective issue of the quality of the Wii's 3rd party lineup, they are also competing with the rentals of full Wii games.
I think it's natural for devs to take advantage of the newness of the platform, but I have a feeling future pricing will have to come down.

I'm not sure how you're coming to your conclusions. I don't see these as impulse buys or competing with rentals.

Quite simply the pricing. People who play games also do other things and spend their money on other entertainment. Why wouldn't a game like Lost Winds at about the same length of a movie+extras and at about the same price not compete for entertainment dollars.

I think WiiWare is perfect for some small games. That is, some games you probably will play many times but you won't pay a lot of money for it. Current line ups of WiiWare games have several this kinds of games.

Pricing is a big issue, though. The FF Chronical game is not expensive at first, but it has many "additional content" which, although cheap for each, can sum up to a big price. And many additional contents does not worth the money (IMHO, of course). But it is more like an anomaly rather than normal. I expect Wiiware games are more like the Japanese scrabble style games. That is, probably larger than flash games, but much smaller than normal games.
