So basically now you've backpedaled to it being clearer which has NOTHING to do with polygons. The GC version has more polygons period. Just look at the ropes on El Gigante! It has better lighting and texturing too. The only advantage the PS2 version has is maybe higher resolution if it indeed is running at a higher resolution. Since it supports anamorphic WS then that's likely the case.
no i still stick to what i said before. the rope rope are the same the polys are the same for the npc's. i dont know for the environment since theres not enough pictures. lighting is a different story...though it did get better it doesnt look the same as gc's.

That's just the thing. The gamcube version is ruined for me since I'll have to use zoom mode on my WS TV unless I want to play the game on a tiny portion in the middle of the screen.

Playing GC-RE4 and zooming the letterbox WS produces very visible scanlines on my TV set and completely destroys the beautiful graphics.

Uh no they're not, take a look at the ropes on the GC version again. It's plain to see you just don't want to accept it.

And nobody was arguing how the GC version looks on YOUR tv. We're talking about polygons, lighting, and texturing. Bottom line is slightly higher resolution doesn't increase lighting, polygons, or texturing quality.

look my favorite horror game is silent hill, i can accept it if it is. but since it's not, you accept that poly rate is the same for both. i sat there for an hour comparing the two and didnt see a difference except for the fidelity of the images. i didnt even like the game but ill give it a shot. either way silent hill3 does more in its engine than re4. real time shadows, lighting, reflections you name it.

edit:now that you put the ps2 el giant pic in i now know polys didnt take a hit. lighting may have and the textures are the same. but then again he's in another location so the lights are different.

edit: come to think of it ,what is the ps2 version?
