Who are the programing genius in each company ?

Another example I remember of a great but maybe unknown 3d coder: "Severance blade of darkness" lighting and shadow system was made by Angel Cuñado ( as well as the great system of fluids ). Did anybody know him ?. He made that game in the same time that Duke Nuken Forever was in the street, and technically they were games miles away from each other.

That brings back some nice memories, too bad I cannot buy this game anywhere. Hope that GOG releases it someday.
 
I agree with the idea that its mainly a team effort. Unlike Carmack & id Software, when I look at the people such as Factor 5, Crytek, Nintendo, Guerrilla, Naughty Dog, Square-Enix etc. its really tough to say there is one distinct person that drove the technical marvels and ground breaking tech seen over the years from these companies. In many cases, its also the directors and artists that push for certain things to be realized.
 
It's a team effort. Rarely a single designer or programmer can be held responsible for the technical and gameplay innovations of the game. In smaller companies, it's more likely that a few persons (or even a single person) has huge impact in the innovation side. In our small company we have basically two programmers who make all the graphics and physics innovations on code side, one designer who invents most of our top innovations and game concepts and one graphics artist who has huge effect on our content pipeline (and new graphics technologies). However without all the other 30 persons in the company, the design and graphics innovations could not be implemented at all, and no games could be done.
