I voted CGI and "Not Going to Look the Same". I think they set a pretty lofty goal and they will reach about 2/4 of that goal (visually). I personally think the game itself will have the same visual fidelity of UT2K7.

Theres things in the Killzone 2 video that just seem not doable from a launch game and a game a year after launch. Maybe if Gorilla has 3 years to work on this title.

If it looks the same they're way ahead of anything else out there.

I think it looks incredible, though. I love it.

It can probably be done, with lots of work. Games like COD2 are getting there.

Yeah, also note that the game might not come in like two years. Anyhow.. :)

If thats the case then I can see this happening. I will really applaud Gorilla if they deliver a game of this caliber (visuals).

I voted CGI and "Not Going to Look the Same".why would i belive that e3 trailer was realtime even when guerilla games said that trailer was representation of what they were trying to accomlish..... because some sony pr people said so ?!!? i do thinkhowever that by the end of next-gen the graphical quality of games will reach that level.

The greatest looking level in COD2 is the same one as the demo for the PC version IMO.

I think this thread was doomed before it started. And personally i dont care about this argument much anymore, its kinda getting over done. But i do think they better show us some new stuff soon, hopefully at CES06. I dont mean to thread crap, but thats just my opinion.

I voted for the last part for Dunno=I dont know.WHY THE HELL DID YOU PUT REALTIME WITH DUNNO?

Eh, I chose CGI/same. But I think same as in "playing the difference won't be perceptibly different" than it'll look as good technically. I think by the time its released they'll have been able to fake the majority of details/effects into something that looks nearly as good.
These are my two favourite shots, the geometry thrown around is just stunning:

If they do fake that, due to some intelligent mapping for example, I'll be mighty pleased. This was my vision for "next-gen" before the MTV X360 thing.

If Guerrilla can produce a visual like E3 KZ then more power to the Sony camp.

If not, shame on them.

I voted CGi, not going to look the same, as that's pretty much an acceoetd argument it was CGi done to specs not running on PS3, thus it must look at least a bit different (image qualitywise at least).
I do hope it would look similar, similar as generally PR cleaned up shots look compared to actual game on your screen, as I've yet to be convinced of the next genness of the arrived next gen, I guess Killzone trailer just spoiled me... maybe mislead me into hoping for a better future... but I still have some hope.
Actually, the more I watch at that trailer and the images, the more I start to think it might indeed be true! Already, the better confirmed real next gen demos, and even xbox360 coming games do show some hope of what is to come :)

Isn't it already common knowledge that it was a CGI video, including a long standing member here who actually knew people from the CGI studio that made the video, yet 17 people still voted non-CGI. Interesting...

This isn't about commenting what others have voted, they have their reasons.
This is about commenting what you voted and why.

There's other places that said it was sped up footage. I still don't see why it can't be possible. I would like people to explain why they think it won't happen.

Oh well, if you want to continue to discuss I might jump in as well too.:)

You're reffering to that guy who's 'friend' works at Axis animation?
Then I would want to ask you why the developer is so hyped about that they made it:
"It's been an amazing reception, the rush you get from seeing your own stuff on the big screen like that, and then the reaction to it, it's a big rush, I'm really happy about it."

"We started working on it in late November, and only finished it three days before the show, at the very, very last moment!"

But, of course, I guess you'd rather trust that guys 'friend'. :)
Or maybe you're talking about something else?

Nesh, it's quite obvious it wasn't gameplay or realtime, and if you don't know then you don't know and if you don't care, then you don't care! :D

It's problably because most people here are PC freaks (at heart) that think RSX is a spiced up GTX (meaning higher clockspeeds).
They see their GTX's struggle with FEAR and can't possibly comprehend the power of the Cell and of a closed architecture and just stamp it with CGI/Pre-rendered.

Now don't get me wrong I'm not saying Killzone was realtime and it doesn't really matter if it was or wasn't but what I'm saying here is the following.
These kind of graphics will be possible realtime somewhere in the beginning (meanding 2nd or maybe 3rd gen titles) of the PS3 and Xbox 360 lifecycle.

Just take the PS2 as an example.
Do you honestly think people thought Black or Shadow of the Colossus would have possible on the PS2?
Just compare Driving Emotion Type-S (1st gen racing game by Square) with Burnout Revenge that must be like a visual quality difference of 1000% or something similair.

IMHO we're gonna see the PS3 and Xbox 360 do things graphicly we don't even consider them possible to.

Sebastian Downie says:

"Trust me on this. You will be pleasantly surprised."

When referring to Killzone PlayStation 3. What could he mean? We'll soon find out... :D
