What are you playing now? [2007-2018]

@Malo how is the combat in Darkest Dungeon, it was kind of difficult to tell from the preview vid on Steam. Is it like Paper Mario or Stick of Truth or Child of Light style?

There's no action timing events. It's more like old turn based RPGs like say Final Fantasy before they started using active time battles.

It's just difficult in many ways, and resource management (money, mental health, physical health, town buildings, etc.) is huge. But because of that, it's hugely satisfying when you can succeed.

This is a game where you have to earn your progression. Progression isn't just given to you like the majority of games these days. The game will be more than happy to stomp you into the ground.

The somewhat recently released Radiant update introduced Radiant mode which makes the resource management aspects a lot easier though.

I'm replaying Mass Effect with high def textures and it looks/plays amazing! Gonna redo the whole trilogy and hope they have Andromeda fixed by then. :p
MEUITM is how I first experienced ME1. Unfortunately there is nothing anywhere near as comprehensive for ME2 or ME3.

I thought ME2 and ME3 looked pretty good, but I haven't seen them in a while to see how they aged. ME1 scared me at first since the settings defaulted to low, but even at high the textures sort of sucked. MEUITM really picked it up and makes it shine!

Cutscenes were where the low res textures on NPC models really stick out in ME2 and ME3. In particular, Krogan Turian and Quarian armours have quite a few where instead of the pristine textures provided by MEUITM you'll see a fair few jaggy pixels. It obviously doesn't impact the game but it shows how good MEUITM was.

Haven't had much time for anything recently, but just finished and absolutely gem of a game.

Epistory.

It's a typing game (don't let that put you off) with an absolutely fantastic story. And the song they used for the end credits is just fantastic and fits the game so well.

Wish I had played this sooner, easily one of the best games I've ever played. Of course, I'm one of those weird people that gets a lot of joy just from typing using a good keyboard. When I was younger before home computers were a thing, it was joy from typing on a good typewriter.

So this is like a guilty pleasure of letting me type just for the pure joy of typing, and the game just enhances it so much.

Doom and Defense Grid (the first) expansions. Oh, and almost every free evening I play some CS:GO with friends.
I also started my free 10h trial of Andromeda, but it didn't grab me as I was hoping for due to several reasons, so I decided to wait for Vega and all the needed patches this game will receive before resuming my trial.

Bayonetta
I know this game is loved by console players but I'm failing to see why
maybe I'm being unfair having only played the first 30 minutes of it but I dont have any urge to continue playing
It seems like a pretty average console type open fighting game like devil may cry or castlevania

That was what I got from watching some game play vids so I just decided to pass because those games aren't my thing in general. This one certainly doesn't look like anything spectacular, although maybe it's just because Neir Automata raised the bar for those games by mixing gameplay?

Yeah it was definitely interesting enough to keep me hooked through it, it's a good exploration puzzle-based story that doesn't require much thought. I grabbed it when it was on sale this week for $7.

Do you think the game is good enough for the Redux Unreal 4 version to be $20? Was looking into buying it.

The critical consensus is that it is the BEST DMC-type fighting game ever. That may or may not be your cup of tea.

I dont mind this type of game, and as I said I may be being unfair because this type of game usually improves as you unlock moves and weapons
but at the 30min mark of dmc and castlevania I wanted to continue playing but with this I dont.

Neir automata, just looked at it on youtube and when you kill enemies they drop rings that you collect, just like bayonetta

Today I bought Vietcong Purple Haze from a charity shop
It's vietcong plus the mission pack first alpha (4 cd's) bargain for £1
I also bought Doom 3 (even thought I have it) got it home and there is no cd but it did have the manual and the booklet with the cdkey (the game doesnt use cd based copy protection)
still its good to have a backup even if it is just a backup of the case again it only cost me £1
The downside is its the Best of Activision case and not the original

Also I got Tron 2.0 working again by re installing it Now I have to add the Killer App mod to add widescreen support

TES: Morrowind.

^_^

I miss some features from previous games, though, like climbing or owning a house (without using mods or other tricks, etc.).
