What are you playing now? [2007-2018]

ME3 - primary game, so far I found things about it I hate as well as things I love. Overlay I'm ME fan so I'm enjoying this game a lot :p
BF3 - well, you can't help but shoot
EVE - new corp. new wormhole, old friends
Defensegrid - pure gold if getting bored or have time only for short game. Beating all levels in all modes to a Gold Medal again, this time with all DLC :devilish:

Not long finished Mass Effect 1. Played it when it first came out, got to about 1 hour before the end and stopped dont know why finished it now though
Mass Effect 2 playing through this now in preparation for M.E 3

In Mass Effect 2 they decided to amplify all of the weaknesses of the first game while toning down the good things, and added in some sort of "minigame" where all you do is move your mouse around a colored sphere, very slowly.

Well, everybody has different preferences, but I definitely didn't feel that way. They made the combat quite a bit more interesting, and the personal stories were good. But I felt they really fell flat on the main story. Most of the time you wouldn't even know there was this big galactic threat going on, and I really disliked the ending. Overall, I still enjoy the game. It just isn't near the best.

Mass Effect 3, however, I'm really getting into. With the combat, it feels like it's a cross between ME1 and ME2, taking the best from both. Autohealing is minimal, and acts much more like ME1. Enemies are tough and fast, like in ME2. There's more choice than ever about which weapons you take along, and there are quite a bit of customization options for the weapons.

I'm also really liking the integration of the main story with everything. It really feels like you're in a galaxy at war, and, at least in my first playthrough, it really feels tied together.

I'm almost at the end now, so we'll see how that wraps up. But overall I am very happy with this game, and will probably play it many more times.

Edit: Just finished the game. Really liked the ending, personally. Very satisfying.

SPOILERS, AHOY!!!!!

I'm indifferent toward the ending, though most gamers seem to be hating it. I have some niggles with it, mainly that a cover-based shooter that makes you hobble so much and so slowly at the end is an odd choice, and the Contact-ish "aww, hey, we'll appear as the kid that's been troubling you so much, because, you know, that would be soothing or something" was way, way too trite for my tastes.

I also got the worst, bleakest ending possible because I didn't feel like gaming the game's readiness and assets ratings with its multi-player component.

I don't think you can get the best ending without doing MP or the ios game, but the required amount of MP is probably an hour or 2. You probably only need 75-80% readiness.

That's going to suck for someone wanting to play ME3...say 3 or 4 years from now when there's likely to be virtually noone available for ME3 multiplayer.

Making it so that it is impossible to get the best ending for single player without playing multiplayer (which means no best ending after X years) is assinine.

Regards,
SB

You can actually solo the MP missions if you don't suck too bad and have a decent level character and gear. Not that you'll have to in a year, because I expect there will still be people playing it despite the forum troll furor.

Bioware says not:

Your ending(s) are determined by your “Effective Military Strength” (let’s call it EMS for now) bar. Focus on that bar – that is your indicator of how well you will do in the end-game.

You can maximize your EMS just by collecting War Assets in the single-player game. There is a certain threshhold of these you would need to exceed (I can’t get too specific) but I can tell you there are MORE than the required amount that can be gathered in the single-player campaign.

“Galactic Readiness” is a modifier you can improve by playing multiplayer. That is to say, if you play a lot of multiplayer, you will need less War Assets from single-player to fill up your EMS bar (ie it will balance out the requirements to account for you playing in both modes). Single-player game play does not impact that bar.

EMS = success. EMS can be maximized via collecting war assets alone, even if your Galactic Readiness is 50%.

While true, it will limit choices you can make. In my first play through I believe I would have been short with 50% readiness despite doing every side mission (and the dlc).

Starcraft 2. I'm very much a latecomer to the starcraft multiplayer phenomenon. I played plenty of SC1 singleplayer back in the day and thought no more about it.

A couple of months back I bought SC2, played my 5 1v1 placement matches and the thing put me in the Silver league after winning 1 out of 5. Thankfully the season was only a few weeks from ending and it more appropriately placed me in Bronze this time round.

Really loving learning the game. It's so intense and difficult to play that usually getting a win amplifies the feeling of pride and accomplishment way above a normal MP experience.

I'm currently in the top 8 (the bronze league is very low level so don't get excited by that), so I guess I'm looking to go back up to Silver next season. Not really sure how all of that works, and don't care all that much. I just enjoy having really good games and being in the zone with my macro.

No one is playing Mass Effect 3?

I'm waiting on gamepad support to get patched in to the pc version. In the meantime I've got 11 other games in my steam list, and I'm having an unusually good time with Bulletstorm. I had tried the demo for it way back and didn't care for it, but playing the game start to finish seems very different, it's actually great fun! At $5 it was a steal.

Same thing for me (also picked it up for $5). The demo was bollocks. The actual SP turned out to be a lot of fun. :)

It's even better because it's Fem Shep.

Command & Conquer Tiberium Alliances.
Actually just tried it out for kicks as I already had an EA account (cant remember for what)... and wasted way more time than I planned
Gonna see how this pans out, you only get a certain amount of "moves" (commander points or whatever), so his could be something I could find time for a couple hours a week.
