Vista and EDID, why?

With XP i could edit my old monitor driver to get all possible refreshes and resolutions the monitor could handle. This allowed me to test 2048x1536 if i needed too.

Now on Vista i am crippled into using EDID and can only get 1600x1200, nothing i've tried will get rid of EDID and quite honestly, this is a real pain.

Does anyone know a way to disable EDID for good? Right now i can't test widescreen resolutions either...

Powerstrip didn't help i'm afraid, it may work for others but i got an error message when trying to update my EDID. I found a fix though:

this worked for me, was very hard to get those pins out, but i can now do 2048 x 1536 again in Vista and all widescreen resolutions are available. :smile:
