UT2007 pics

really dont see much difference between GOW and ut07 tech-wise. although the character model in ut07 seems to hav slightly higher polygon count than the soldiers from GOW.

Obviously you can't see a difference tech-wise: they share the same technology (UE3).
The only differences will be the art assets and game designs.

The PlayStatіоn 2 was a programmer’s nightmare. There were almost no distinctions between first, second, and third generation games; something unusual on game consоles.

Quite amusing actually, as there has been noticeable graphical improvements in PS2 games.

For example:
Silent Hill 2 > Silent Hill 3
Ico > Shadow of the Colossus
Metal Gear Solid 2 > Metal Gear Solid 3
Tekken Tag Tournament > Tekken 5
Gran Turismo 3 > Gran Turismo 4
Onimusha > Onimusha: Dawn of Dreams
Resident Evil - Code Veronica X + Outbreak > Resident Evil 4
Soul Reaver 2 > Legacy of Kain - Defiance

Just that sentence is absolutely laughable and destroys the writer's credibility. Saying PS2 games showed no change from first to third year only means he has absolutely NO idea what he's talking about. If anything, i'd find it hard to see a game that looks better than DOA3 on Xbox, even after 4 years, and RL3 (or whatever it was called) on GC. Both launch games.
PS2 has shown effects no one even imagined were possible on the platform, and saying latest games show no difference to the first wave is absolutely and utterly stupid.

Besides, why would an Xbox site care about making a whole editorial about PS3 or PS2, when they don't even know what they're on about and only use the opportunity to make themselves feel better about their preferred console? Very childish, a mixture of fanboi masturbation and anti-competition PR.

The majority of those are not 1st to 3rd gen software. But I do agree that the PS2 saw vast improvements from it's launch software (which in many cases looked worse than some dreamcast games at the time).

No, no no. I don't believe the artilce in the slightest. I'm saying that txb.com didn't originate the article. They were merely posting what the inquirer said.

I agree somewhat with you Hardknock but I also think re-posting information like that is almost as bad and can ruin a sites cred just as much as the original.

I remember a news anchorman reported and trashed Arnold Schwarzenegger talking about sending missles up to destroy the moon because it caused P.M.S in women, He clearly stated that he got the info from Howard Stern Radio Show, turned out it was a skit and it was a Arnie impersonator. The anchorman looked like a fool and had to make an on air apology cause he didn't check his source.

It's pretty much the same thing happening at txb.com, just on a smaller scale.

Actually, I'd call at least 5 of those 8 games .Melchiah. listed as 1st generation games. 1st generation games doesn't mean launch games - it's more akin to say that 1st generation games is the first wave of software from that developer, though taking into account that libraries grew with the age of the console, defining a generation isn't always representative. Still, given the very steap learning curve of the PS2, it's easily the platform that enjoyed the largest improvement throughout its existance.

Other than the fact one is a fast-paced multiplayer game based with many more character on screen at once that will run at 60fps(rein), and the other is a much slower SP centered game that will run at 30fps(rein)...no not much difference :p

The green-armoured black guy may be higher poly, but the caucasian guy in the red armor is obviously not as detailed.

Haha, yeah I forgot MS was publishing Gow...

Although Rein did say that they'll hope to get it on as many consoles, not that they really would. :p

Oh and the difference between gow and ut would be the gameplay, I mean, larger maps, more players, large vehicle combats, aircrafts, like... It'll have more effects too I guess, like the guns for example.
And maybe they want it at 60fps. :D

Can't wait to hear the soundtracks
I really hope they make it feel more like the first UT, I'm playing it a bit now and it's fun like hell.
