i can't find the link ,but there was that 200bn$ deal with the pentagon ,involving IBM ,MS ,and others,to provide wireless realtim topological information for on field soldiers.

Also don't forget the comments about the Cell landscape demo.Very military relative.

I don't see its use in the military really though
Why not? Image recognition and targetting. That's image processing. Fourier transform and shennanigans. Cell should be good at that, same as medical imaging.

As for a processor being powerful enough to be used in nukes, a pocket calculator can do that. The Apollo moon landing showed you only need a tiddly amount of processing power to manage thrust:gravity acceleration balance. And it's not like a nuke needs to be particularly precise where it lands...

Beyond gaming
Two nongaming customers are using Cell, Beck said, though he wouldn't name them. One is involved in medical imaging, and the other is tapping the chip for military use in image recognition and targeting, he said.

V.

One is involved in medical imaging = CELL BASED ANDROIDS

the other is tapping the chip for military use = CELL BASED ANDROIDS ABLE TO LAUNCH NUKES.

WERE TEH DOOMED!!1!111
Goodbye everyone, it was nice talking to you all.

And in other news an unnamed airline will announce their use of Cell in their main computer network Skynet.
