Turn Your RADEON 9500 into RADEON 9700 in No Time!

Ok, I got 2 9500s today and I have to say that this hack is just BS. I don't believe any of the 9500s are working. Of the two I received, one is totally jacked, meanwhile the other has VERY SMALL errors. You have to look very closely in order to find these errors. As far as I'm concerned it's likely those with a "working" 9500 actually have one that has very small errors that they haven't noticed yet.

Damn, tuff luck.
I sold my GF3 and got a 9500np yesterday.
Installed,DX9,Cat3,Riva Win9X patched, voila 9700.
Stock bios O/C to 325/310 so far, NO artifacts. no checkerboard.
*Except* after installing R3DTweak and "tweaking" I got those mega
Vertices? /polygon errors. I couldn't get rid of them, and thought I hosed
my card *sob*

Rolled back to earlier system.dat Re-installed everything, Perfect again.
Ha ha.. no more experimental tweaking for me.

I believe C/B *may be* bad pipes, but the vertices errors for me was
tweaking related.

I'mma poor s.o.b. Thank the Silicon Gods this worked for me.

P.S. I saw some peeps with stepping info and such, is there a proggy that can read that info? Or do I gotta pop the H/S off to find it?

Also there's a black ink stamp on back of PCB: V13 Is that the rev?

Thanx for any info.

I'm glad it worked for you. ;)

Seriously, I'm just a walking bad-luck magnet when it comes to PC parts. First my two 9500s were gimps. Then I returned them after convincing newegg not to charge me a restocking fee and purchased 2 refurbed R9700 Pros for a good price. Unfortunately, seems to have been defective and it killed my motherboard (either that or the board was defective and couldn't handle AGP 8X). So, now I have to RMA both the card and the board to the manufacturers for repair.

But hey, at least one card works right!

doh!
