But keeping in mind that many people drink (almost) no beer, there must be lots of those drinking 300l and more, too.

Oh yes, I know quite a few. I visited a friend of a friend once and he killed twenty Weizen (wheat beer for those who don't know) over some 5-6 hours

EDIT: he also peed just twice during that time, amazing

What? WTH is Canada on that list? I drink on average, 2-3 pints per 2 weeks. Used to be higher, now I have to save money....

I bring down the average. :D I drink maybe three or four litres a year.

let's see... 12-pack every other weekend... thats 26 12 packs a year.

one bottle of beer contains 0,33 liters, therefore 12-pack contains 3,96 liters.

26*3,96=103 liters.

*barf*

that must mean I'm half british, half irish.

i'm shocked , 5th behind ireland!!

hmm wonder what that would look like if it was 'cost' rather than by volume :)
Well Finland (using an average of 9 Euros per litre based on WhiningKhan's 4-5 euros per half litre) Comes out at 756 Euros per Person. http://www.google.co.uk/search?hs=2...+9+euros+per+litre+in+Euros&btnG=Search&meta=
and the UK comes out at
699 Per person.

Well, I sit at around a six pack every one to two months. So I figure that's what, 12-24 liters per year? You guys that go into the hundreds are nuts.

As I said before, a 100 liters are easy to reach. That's just 2l per week, and if you're out two nights per week, that's two (or three, depending on local measurements) beers a night. Even for a slow drinker that doesn't last a whole evening.

Well here it's ~€2.50 in bars and 3-3.50 in clubs usually.

Well, a pint of Hoegaarden in my local pub costs about £3.20 (not far off €5!) - bloody expensive when you consider I only live in a small northern town rather than a large city! In the same pub, a pint of their own bitter (brewed on the premises) costs around £1.70 and a 500ml bottle of Budvar costs about £2.25. Needless to say, despite quite enjoying my wheat beer I don't drink too many of them on a night out!

The majority of the total consumption probably isn't bought from bars or pubs, though. And certainly most of it is not 'decent', to quote myself. Here, the local standard lagers (alc. less than 4.7 vol-%) cost a little over 1€ per 0.33l bottle. How much is the beer in markets around there?

In Germany you can usually get a box of 20x0.5l bottles for ~12-13€, sometimes even for 10€.

Yeah, I like Hoegaarden but the prices they charge in UK for it are silly (even if you do get a nice glass :) )

Well, a pint of Hoegaarden...

Heh, just looked up 'pint' on wikipedia and it gave me four different measures (UK, US, liquid,...).

AFAIK a pint is 500ml, is that right?

Cool, they should use it here too. More == better!

Bear in mind that we are talking about the Imperial pint here as used in the UK/Ireland which is 20 fluid ounces. Those crazy Americans only have 16 fluid ounces in their pints so you could end up feeling short-changed!
