The Official Metal Gear Online thread

Network server error cancelled the download. Can't try again due to Network server error.
Once again a company has entered into a service it's not the least bit able to support! Round one of the Beta is a total flop, unable to even let people run the game. I'm amazed how companies can so utterly underestimate problems and prepare themselves. Who designed this system, when there's so many other successful models out there, and decided it was a good one?

I'm in no rush to try again. The gameplay could be good and different enough, and I like the humour, but so far the game has exceeded my low faff tolerance levels.

Don't worry, those that weren't smart enough to get a GamerID from Konami are probably not going to play it yet for a while, as that server is now completely down due to being hammered. ;)

No one likes a show off Arwin! :devilish:

I'm hopeful that the load will decrease on that site. But if there's no progress in the next couple of days I'll forget the whole thing. There are better ways to spend my time. :p

Would be nice to see them admit their mistake and just patch the beta as well as the game to use the standard PSN account system. Probably asking too much there though.

Got the beta code today after putting down my pre orders. Will let things settle down and try to do the download over the weekend.

I downloaded the beta from the EU store but I get a server error message. Is that because I need a registry key or something from Konami?

No key here. Downloaded it from the EU store, and it works fine. Actually, I used my US account to enter the beta. My EU account didn't seem to work properly for some reason after starting the beta. Took awhile to get the 1.1 though. Used the bit-torrent client instead of getting it from the Konami servers. Now the biggest problem is getting an Konami and Gamer ID.

I tried to download the update with different accounts or methods but nothing worked

It seems to be impossible to get konami-ID registered at konami site. Registering session always ends after I've typed my information and clicked next.

Folks, for an official thread, the opening post is lacking in substance (pun intended.)

And yes, I care enough to enter the thread to criticise it but not enough to offer my help and update the OP with quality information on MGO. :p

I think this thread was pruned from one of the other MGS threads. So, its not patsu's fault. :p His opening thread, was actually just an update to a main thread.

Well you can remove "Solid" in the thread title to match it with the official title!

Done!

If someone is willing to write an informative "first" post, I'd stealthily* copy that content into the OP.

Of course this is intended as well! Why did you even have to check this spoiler text? :devilish:

:LOL: Wait for the beta to start !

Based on the complex registration process, I expect it to go like this:
* Cannot sign in
* Cannot sign in
* Cannot sign in
* I don't know how to sign in
* Cannot sign in
* Patching game
...

:devilish:

Ok, what was Konami thinking? First the "update" took ages to complete. Then the registration process is utterly borked. "Can't register ID" -> "Checking if ID exists"->"ID does not exist"->"Deleted entries because no activity" -> ARRRGGGGG...
and that was my most successful try...
:rolleyes:
