The Official, Long Awaited, TV Shows Thread

Interesting, will definitely give it a season. I'm not sure about the animation and character though, we'll see.

yeesh the latest episode of Foundation is full of tropes that the show deliberately shows them super obviously and without any twist at all.

Asimov is fantastic try some of his short stories
I'll have to check one of these days, but I suspect that The End of Eternity has held up really well, and could be made into a good film, or even a mini-series if we explored the experiences that would be inherent with the job of the protagonist. I don't recall anything in it that would make it seem dated, and between the premise, and technologies so advanced that they don't seem to be a product of a 1950s sensibility regarding the future, what's in it could make for a one to one transfer to the screen. Lol, anti-grav ships as imagined in the 50s work still the same here in the science fiction of 2021. But it can be dangerous to get sentimental about such things. ;)

I forgot to mention, my dearly departed sister once worked at Omni Magazine, and was tasked with fixing up (just to make it legible/grammatical, she wasn't an editor per se) a quickly dashed off entry by Asimov. She showed me his submission, and wow, lol, the little bit of the scribbling (it was in longhand) I perused lived up to his reputation of not rewriting what he wrote. :) I think it was an article, not a piece of fiction, but I can't really remember.

The original Cowboy Bebop is one of my all time favorite Anime series.

I'm totally not feeling it from the teaser and trailer. Live action just doesn't come close to capturing the feel of the series, especially the style. It comes across as a bit contrived, slow, and kludgy.

Not surprising as I can't think of an anime that had a really good Live Action conversion. Maybe it's just me.

SB

I don't know, last time I watched Cowboy Bebop, other than when I started to re-watch the anime last week, was about 15+ years ago and what I see in the trailer looks awesome. The Anime is still awesome and just refreshing my memory again last week I got to episode 6. Need to go through the rest of it this weekend.

It looks like they are trying to faithfully reconstruct the anime into live action and I am all for that if that is so. I like the look of it. I wonder how many episodes Netflix are planning to release.

I thought the Rurouni Kenshin films were quite good, the favourite probably being The Beginning followed by Kyoto Inferno.

Haven't seen that yet, I'll check it out. Not hopeful though since there have been so so many disappointing Live Action versions of anime and manga over the years. Some of which were almost good but never lived up to their anime or manga sources.

the foundation series is really over the top in making the main characters looks smart. They made everyone else as dumb as rock. yeesh.
