For example, try getting on top of the windmill in Bianco Hills.. facing the majority of the level. The camera keeps turning away.

Click to expand... Mmm... yes, that area is one of the few where an autocamera kicks in (for when you're going around the windmill, mainly). You can hold L to lock the camera behind Mario though... and the Y button gets you an over-the-shoulder perspective...
