Atleast there is available proper comparision of buffer/capture grabs of both F3 and GT5p off similar environment all ingame (saw it in a site today). Really good ones and people could talk around that instead of offscreens or promo. Hmm, I guess people would still go with preference but atleast that would show what is rendered when you play and people could disect technicall and artistically choices. Lots of screens.

Thanks. I feared as much. Not ment to be overly critical, but it's real shame that a technology forum can't (is not allowed to) compare two games. I would also much rather have the comparison talk in the comparison topic, rather then have it slip into the game-related topics as they do now and disturb those that want to focus on the game itself. I would post this in the appropriate thread... but ironically, that one's closed.
It's not as if I care which game looks better - but historically, the most interesting and technological enlightening topics on this board were the comparison topics. This feels so very mid-age.
I think the main reason it was closed was that we didnt realy have a lot to compare in terms of ingame media. Maybe it is now a good time to re-open, but i think the lack of direct feed footage for GT5 would be an issue still.
Just to check did it have quite some slowdowns and a bit of tearing?
I ask becouse I am browsing in a VM running on single core but Windows media player reports 60fps playback speed with 0 frame loss.

EDIT: no, actually the comparison thread has been closed. Foolish me. Should maybe make one again though - it's rare that we'll be able to so directly compare the same car models in a game like this.

The last thread was a troll\fanboy war with absolutely nothing good coming out of it (as predicted). Im amazed that the mods actually wanted to have that thread, as comparing 2 unreleased games on competing platforms is only going to end up with idiotic posts.

Certainly we aren't going to even attempt a proper comparison without the games being released, though chances of even that remaining sane is slim.There's a comment on the gtplanet post about the release date where a poster says there was a miss-translation and what Kaz actually said was it will be released within the next 6 months, not in 6 months. Admittedly I've not seen this mentioned on any other sites so it could all be wishful thinking on the posters part, but if that's correct it still leaves an (increasingly) slim chance that we'll see it this year. Shame we didn't all club together & send Patsu ...

For the sake of the forum, couldn't you create one and simply state f. example Technical comparison only or whatever and give all the trolls who break it IP ban immediately when broken? The ones that are smart enough to change their IP will not troll openly anyway.
That way we would atleast temporary solve the biggest problem with the console boards

I think you need to stop waiting for that ... IIRC at/pre e3 they said something about "no more updates for gt5p".
I actually thought that just after posting the above! It'd need very specific rules-of-engagement though. However this is now veering OT. Any further discussion needs a thread in the Feedback forum rather than here, though I won't move thiese posts as participants in this thread will want to hear the options.
I ment (as I understood Nebula's original comment) because the City course has so many cars, the damage might not be as extensive as on the dedicated Rally stages. Where the number of cars are drastically reduced, and therefor, there are more of the PS3's resources available for a more detailed damage model.
