Tales of Symphonia gets very high scores...YAY!!

According to Japanese gaming site Quiter, the new Media-Create sales rankings show both Tales of Symphonia and GameCube at the top of Japanese sales charts during the week of August 25 through 31.

Namco's newest Tales RPG, and the first game in the series to take place in 3D, debuted with an impressive 193,500 copies sold in Japan during its first week in stores. Namco has said that it hopes to sell half a million copies of the game in total. Final Fantasy: Crystal Chronicles and Kirby Air Ride are also both in the top ten for the week, along with several GBA titles.

The heavy-hitting launch of Tales of Symphonia has managed to make GameCube the top-selling console for last week, edging out PlayStation 2 for once. Probably a good portion of the new GameCubes being sold are the special edition created in honor of the Tales of Symphonia release. Game Boy Advance SP handily beat out all of the big systems.

Finally bought it and played a bit, it plays like Tales of Destiny 2 on PS2 (my first Tales ... game), but got interrupted by my newly bought Charinko hero (a kiddy racing game with Q-sized Ultraman, maskrider and monsters as characters).

The battle (with every game options at default) is showing in 3D but playing is more like 2D, you can only run forward or backward during the battle.

Shock Me Shock Me...insanity
thanks to tales, GC actually outsold PS2 in hardware for one week, lol.. never thought that day would come.

I think GC has beaten PS2 in weekly sales at least once before in Japan actually. I could be wrong though.
